Hempstead gravel and Hockley minerals west and south-east of town
West toward Hempstead, 9.3 miles out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places a sand and gravel operation called the Hempstead Plant. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that loads there is likely parked at a yard toward Hempstead rather than in town, so give us that address when you get in touch and we plan the collection around it.
Two more sites sit south-east of town in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s records: HOCKLEY MINE, an industrial-mineral mine 11.6 miles out, and the Hockley Plant, a sand and gravel operation at 11.7 miles. If your truck has hauled out of either one, tell us which, and send photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab together with the title.
General freight across nine of Prairie View’s ten carriers
Prairie View has 10 active carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and 9 of them list general freight among what they haul. Box trucks, day cabs and sleepers on general freight work make up most of what a seller here is likely to have; send the VIN, the registration and a few clear photos and we start from those.
Two of those ten carriers haul logs, poles, beams and lumber, two carry metal sheets, coils and rolls, and one moves intermodal containers, by the same federal census. Flatbed and log-trailer tractors are on our list alongside the box trucks, so tell us what trailer the tractor pulled and whether it comes with it.
Three trucks at the top of the local fleet list
The biggest carrier based in Prairie View runs 3 power units with 3 drivers, according to the FMCSA census, and the next two run a single truck each. Selling one truck from a fleet that size means the person who drove it is usually the person who holds the title, which keeps the paperwork simple: the signed title and your photo ID are the core of it.
Eight of the local carriers run intrastate only and two cross state lines, while two are private fleets hauling their own goods, as FMCSA’s records show. A private-fleet truck may be titled to the business rather than to a person, so have whoever signs for the company ready to sign the title over.
Newer authorities and title papers
FMCSA’s census records 2 carriers registering in Prairie View in 2025 and 1 in 2024. If your authority is that recent and the truck still carries a lien from its purchase, tell us the lender’s name at the start so the payoff and the title release can be arranged as part of the sale.
A title that has gone missing is replaced through the state’s title agency, and it helps to request the duplicate before the truck is collected. Registration, any inspection reports and service records you have kept round out the file, though none of them stands in for the title itself.
Seventeen open bridges and a rail yard out at Sealy
Of the 17 bridges inside Prairie View in the National Bridge Inventory, none is load-posted and none has clearance under 14 feet. A tractor and trailer can reach a yard in town without a detour around a low or weight-limited span, so give us the street address and we bring the right equipment to it.
SEALY, a rail yard 23.7 miles south-west on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics appears on that map as a rail yard serving the area. The one local carrier listed for intermodal containers may have a chassis or tractor that ran to Sealy; let us know if the chassis belongs to you or to someone else before pickup.
Cattle, rice and Waller County work
Waller County had 1,545 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, rice and equine as the leading lines. Cattle pots, grain trucks and horse-trailer tractors kept on a farm are collected where they sit, so tell us the gate or barn location and whether a loaded trailer can turn around there.
Prairie View counted 3,256 jobs in 2023, with 316 in manufacturing and 63 in construction, per the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. A flatbed or dump truck that served a plant or a building site in the area belongs on the list, and the company that owned it should have the title and registration on file.
The questions we get asked in Prairie View
- Do you collect trucks that work the Hempstead or Hockley pits? The Hempstead Plant lies 9.3 miles west and the Hockley Plant 11.7 miles south-east on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we come to the yard where the truck is kept rather than asking you to bring it to Prairie View.
- Will you buy from a Prairie View driver who owns just the one truck? Two of the three biggest carriers in town run a single power unit in FMCSA’s census, so a one-truck owner is the usual seller here; have the title in your name, your ID and photos of the truck ready.
- What if my Waller County farm truck has no title on hand? With 1,545 farms in Waller County on USDA’s 2022 count, a farm truck may be titled to the farm or to a family member, so check the name on the record and request a duplicate through the state’s title agency and tell us it is on the way.
- Can a truck carrying a lumber or coil trailer be collected together with it?Two local carriers haul lumber and two haul metal coil in FMCSA’s census, and we take the tractor alone or with its trailer; list both VINs if the trailer is part of the sale.
