West on the quarry road
Hoffman stone and the dump trucks that carry it
Drive 10.9 miles west of Rancho Alegre and you reach Hoffman, a crushed-stone quarry on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s rolls. A tandem or tri-axle dump truck that has hauled aggregate out of Hoffman is a truck we collect where it is parked, whether that is the quarry yard or a driveway in Rancho Alegre.
If yours worked the Hoffman run, send a photo of the bed, the hoist and the tag axle along with the cab. Note the body length and whether a tarp system is fitted, and say if the truck sits on a slope or in loose gravel at the pit.
Kingsville Materials and the sand pit at Nason
Kingsville Materials Corp, at 17.9 miles to the south-west by the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing, is a second crushed-stone source for Rancho Alegre haulers. A rock truck based at that end of the county can stay there; give us the gate address and we route the pickup to it rather than to town.
Nason Plant #1 runs sand and gravel 22.2 miles north-east of Rancho Alegre, per the Mine Safety and Health Administration. End-dump trailers, belly dumps and the tractors that pull them from that plant are all part of what we take, so list the trailer separately from the tractor when you write to us.
Stock trailers and sorghum haulers off Jim Wells pastures
Around Rancho Alegre, the 2022 Census of Agriculture from USDA counts 960 farms in Jim Wells County, with cattle first and sorghum and corn behind it. A gooseneck stock trailer, a pot-belly cattle hauler or a grain truck from one of those operations fits what we purchase.
Ranch trucks often sit at a pasture gate or a barn rather than at a house in town. Tell us which ranch road the truck is on and whether a lowboy can turn around at the gate, and send the VIN off the door jamb along with a photo of the title’s front.
North and south of town
Parked between ALF Orange and King Ranch
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places ALF Orange, a military installation, 11.4 miles north of Rancho Alegre, and lists King Ranch as another installation 14.7 miles to the south. Rancho Alegre sits between the two, and a truck kept near either one is still on our pickup map.
If your truck is parked on or near one of those sites, check what access rules apply before you give us the address. A gate that needs an escort or a pass changes where we meet the truck, so tell us up front and we will set a meeting point outside it.
A missing Rancho Alegre title, sorted at the Alice counter
Titles in Texas are handled by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles through its county tax assessor-collector offices, and for Rancho Alegre that is the Jim Wells County Tax Office at 601 E. Main Street Ste#175, Alice, 78332, a 2.1-mile drive from Rancho Alegre on the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles’ office list. Bring your identification and the VIN to that counter if the title is missing or the lien release never arrived.
With a title in your name, keep the current registration, any service records and photos of all four sides of the truck together. If a bank still holds the title, tell us the lender’s name and we will work through the payoff paperwork with you before the pickup.
