Hay, grain and freight out of Roscoe
Half of the 24 Roscoe-based carriers active in FMCSA’s carrier census, twelve outfits, name general freight among their loads. Send the VIN of your tractor or straight truck with photos of the cab, frame and tires, and we can talk through the truck before the pickup is booked.
Seven Roscoe outfits declare grain, feed and hay to the federal motor carrier census, another seven declare machinery and large objects, and six haul farm supplies. Hopper-bottom tractors, flatbeds and lowboy rigs that carried those loads are all trucks we buy here; tell us what trailer it pulled and whether that trailer goes with it.
Twenty of those carriers run intrastate only and three cross state lines, according to FMCSA records, while eight are private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck that never left Texas still needs its Texas title in the owner’s name, so check the name on it matches the seller before we schedule a visit.
Roscoe operators with a handful of rigs
In FMCSA’s census, three local fleet sizes stand out: 15 power units with nine drivers, seven units with four drivers, and six units with five. If you are thinning a yard like that, we can collect several trucks in one trip, so give us a list of units with their VINs and where each is parked.
Have the odometer reading and any service records on hand when you contact us; that reading and the VIN are the first two things we ask for.
WTRR Portable #2, a crushed-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 8.3 miles west of Roscoe, is the closest mine to town. Dump trucks and tractors pulling end-dumps out of a site like that are often parked at the pit rather than at home; give us the gate location and a contact who can let us in.
Two Sweetwater Quarry operations, industrial-mineral mines on the MSHA register, sit 10.1 and 11.7 miles east. The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists the Maryneal Quarry and Mill cement plant 16 miles south of Roscoe. Mixer trucks, bulk pneumatic tankers and aggregate haulers from those sites can all be collected where they stand.
Rail and payroll
The Sweetwater yard and the local job base
Freight trains meet at the Sweetwater rail yard, 9.2 miles north-east of Roscoe on the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that shuttle freight to and from that yard are trucks we buy; tell us whether the tractor has a sleeper when you reach us.
Of 421 jobs counted in Roscoe for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 90 fall in transportation and warehousing, a 21.4 percent share. Owner-operators and drivers among them can sell a truck in their own name with a clear title, and a lienholder’s release if the truck was financed.
Building crews add three construction establishments countywide, per the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns for Nolan County. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from those crews qualify too; photos of the bed or body alongside the cab help us understand the truck.
Cattle trailers and cotton module trucks
Around Roscoe and across Nolan County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 443 farms, with cattle, cotton and wheat as the leading products. Cattle haulers, module trucks and grain trucks that sit in a barn between seasons can be picked up right from the farm; send us the road and directions to the shed.
A farm truck registered under ranch or farm plates still needs a title to change hands. If the title has gone missing over the years, sort out a certified copy before we come, so the sale is not held up at the gate.
Replacing a Roscoe truck’s title in Sweetwater
Texas titles come from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, and replacements are handled through county tax assessor-collector offices. For Roscoe owners the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles points to the Nolan County Tax Office at 100 E. 3rd, Ste 100, Sweetwater, 79556, a 7.5-mile drive from town on the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles listing.
Bring photo ID and the VIN to the Sweetwater counter and ask for a certified copy of title; if a bank still shows as lienholder, bring its release letter too. Once you hold the copy, send us a photo of the front, and the paperwork side of the sale is ready.
