La Havana rock
Rock haulers between La Havana Pit and the portable crusher
La Havana Pit, a crushed-stone quarry 6.2 miles west of San Carlos, appears in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s mine records. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has hauled rock out of that pit can be collected from the quarry yard, a shop lot or your driveway, so give us the exact spot and who holds the key.
Portable Crusher #2, which the Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists as a crushed-stone operation, sits 13.1 miles north-west. If your truck moved between that crusher and La Havana Pit, send the VIN, a photo of the door sticker and pictures of the bed and hoist, and we can talk it through from there.
Pit gravel
Gravel loads off the Texan and Perales pits
Two sand and gravel operations appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration listings near town: Texan Pit, 13.2 miles west, and Perales Pit, 16.7 miles north-west. Tandem dumps and belly-dump trailers from those runs are on the list of what we buy, tractor and trailer together or separately.
When a gravel truck is still parked at Texan Pit or Perales Pit, ask the site whether a pickup crew may enter and at what hours. Pass that name and phone number along with the title, and the collection gets arranged around the pit’s own rules rather than yours.
The Edinburg petroleum product terminal
According to the Energy Information Administration, a petroleum product terminal named EDINBURG lies 7.7 miles north-west of San Carlos. Fuel tankers and the tractors that pull them out of a terminal like that are trucks we purchase, and so are the tank trailers on their own.
For a tanker, gather the cargo tank test and inspection reports along with the registration before you call. Those sheets tell us what the trailer carried and when it was last certified, which saves several questions on the phone.
Ramp and yard
Drayage off the Rio Valley ramp at Donna
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Donna, TX - Rio Valley rail intermodal ramp 8.2 miles south of town. Day cabs and sleepers that dray containers on and off that ramp are welcome, as are chassis, so list each unit with its own VIN.
Further out, a rail yard at Harlingen sits 22.8 miles east, per the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor based near that yard can stay put; send its Harlingen address and the pickup is planned there, with no trip back to San Carlos.
Rigs hauling Hidalgo County cotton, corn and cattle
Hidalgo County counted 2,045 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cotton, corn and cattle lead its list. Grain trucks, module haulers, livestock trailers and the tractors behind them all fit what we buy from San Carlos growers and ranchers.
Between harvests, a San Carlos farm rig may be parked under a shed roof or beside a turn row. Tell us which gate road reaches it and whether the ground is firm enough for a tow rig. Photograph the cab, the frame and the trailer as well, showing the whole rig.
Owner papers and a missing San Carlos title
Have the title in the registered owner’s name, the current registration and any service records together before the pickup is set. If the title has been misplaced, the state’s title agency issues a replacement, and you can start that request while we look over your photos.
Where a lender still holds a lien, send us the lender’s name and the payoff contact rather than waiting for a clean title. A bill of sale signed by every person named on the title keeps the transfer simple for a Hidalgo County owner.
The questions we get asked in San Carlos
- Can my end dump stay at La Havana Pit for collection?La Havana Pit lies 6.2 miles west of San Carlos in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we collect from the quarry yard itself. Give us a site contact who can let the crew in.
- Do you buy trucks from the Donna intermodal ramp? The Donna, TX - Rio Valley ramp, 8.2 miles south of town per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is a place we will collect drayage tractors and chassis from. Send the VIN of each unit.
- Will you take a cotton module truck and trailer from a Hidalgo County farm?Cotton tops the crop list for Hidalgo County’s 2,045 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and farm trucks and trailers from those operations are ones we buy. Photos of both units and the title start the process.
