Shallowater haulers, from hopper rigs to box vans
General freight is ticked by 41 of the 65 Shallowater carriers still active in FMCSA’s carrier census, the single most common cargo box on their forms. If your tractor or straight truck is one of those general freight units, have the cab card and the title in the same folder before you call, so the VIN on both can be read back to us in one go.
Grain, feed and hay show up on 25 of those Shallowater registrations in the FMCSA census, with farm supplies on 14 and machinery or large objects on 16. A hopper-bottom rig, a flatbed or a lowboy tractor from that kind of work is something we collect; photos of the trailer coupling, the deck and the cab, taken in daylight at the farm or yard, tell us what we are looking at.
Intrastate work outnumbers interstate here
Of those 65 Shallowater carriers, 48 run intrastate only and 17 hold interstate authority, according to the FMCSA census; 27 operate as private fleets hauling their own goods. A truck that has stayed inside Texas still carries the same Texas title as one that has crossed state lines, and either one can be sold from wherever it is parked.
Shallowater outfits that filed yearly mileage with FMCSA number 27, and halfway down their list sits a figure of 8,333 miles per truck. Write down the odometer reading when you photograph the dash; that figure and the VIN are the first two things we ask about.
Model year 2015 is the middle of the local fleet
Thirty-three trucks from Shallowater were pulled into FMCSA roadside inspections from September 2024 to August 2026, and those records put the middle model year at 2015. Just under 58 percent of those inspected trucks were ten or more model years old, by the same FMCSA roadside records. Whatever year yours is, the model year printed on the title is the one we go by, so check that it matches the plate on the door jamb.
The biggest Shallowater operation on the FMCSA census runs 19 power units with 17 drivers, the next nine units and nine drivers, and a third eight units with two drivers. Owners selling one truck out of a group like that can send a single list of VINs, and we can arrange collection of each unit from the same yard.
Lubbock fuel racks and BNSF sidings on the Shallowater side
The Energy Information Administration places two petroleum product terminals about 8 miles south-east of Shallowater, both listed under Lubbock. If your truck is parked at a fuel stop or yard on that side of town rather than at home, give us that street address; pickup happens where the truck is.
Two rail yards appear in the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, at roughly 11 miles south-east: the Lubbock yard and the Lubbock BNSF yard. A day cab that shuttles loads to those sidings can be collected from the terminal lot, provided someone there can let us in and point it out.
Quarry and sand pit trucks out past town
Lubbock County IRock Crusher, a crushed-stone quarry registered with the Mine Safety and Health Administration, lies about 12 miles south-west of Shallowater. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors from that kind of site are on our list; tell us whether the truck sits inside the quarry gate or outside it, so the collection driver knows who to call on arrival.
Further out, the same Mine Safety and Health Administration listing places Damron Sand, a sand and gravel operation, some 22 miles south-east. If your truck is parked at a pit like that, send a photo of the access road along with the truck itself, and note whether a lowboy or a standard tow can reach it.
Gins, fields, job sites
Cotton, corn and construction around Shallowater
Lubbock County counted 1,286 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cotton, corn and equine operations at the top of the list. A grain truck or farm tractor that spends most of the year at a field edge north-west of Lubbock can be collected right there, so give us directions from the nearest paved road.
Shallowater had 789 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with 132 of them in transportation and warehousing and 100 in construction. The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns count 41 construction establishments for the area. For a contractor’s dump truck or flatbed, a current registration and the title in the business name are what we need to see.
Downtown Lubbock tax office
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles issues certified copies of titles through county tax assessor-collector offices, and the one serving Shallowater is the Lubbock County Tax Office at 916 Main St, Ste 102, Lubbock, about 11 miles away. Bring photo ID and the VIN when you go, and keep the receipt.
If a lender still shows on the title, a lien release from that lender goes with the certified copy. Once both are in hand, send us pictures of them along with the truck photos and we can plan the collection.
