Two gravel pits under six miles out
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Alvarado Sand and Gravel 5.9 miles south-west of The Homesteads and a second sand and gravel operation, Portable #1, the same 5.9 miles to the north. A tandem or tri-axle dump that loads at either pit is a truck we buy, and if it is sitting at the pit gate rather than at home, give us the pit name and a contact on site so the collection can be arranged there.
For a dump truck from these pits, photograph the bed raised and lowered, the hoist, the tarp system and the VIN plate on the door jamb. Have the title in your name and the current Texas registration together before you call, since those two papers settle who can sign for the truck.
Cement east of town
East of town the Mine Safety and Health Administration records two cement plants: Midlothian Quarry and Plant at 8.2 miles and the Ash Grove Cement Company at 8.7 miles. Mixers, pneumatic bulk tankers and the tractors that pull them all work out of plants like these, and each of those body types is on our list.
If your mixer or tanker has hauled out of the Midlothian plants, note the drum or trailer serial number alongside the chassis VIN, and send both. Send a photo of each plate, and tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale or whether you are keeping it.
Cleburne and the logging yard rail lines
The North American Rail Network also shows a second site, the Logging Yard, 18.7 miles to the north-west.
Day cabs that shuttle loads to and from those yards often sit near the rail line between runs. Tell us which yard the tractor works from and the address where it is parked tonight, and we will plan the pickup around that spot rather than asking you to move it.
Tank terminals west and north-east
Two liquid bulk terminals appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings near town, one 16.6 miles west and another 20.3 miles to the north-east. A tank truck or a tractor with a tanker trailer that loads at either one belongs in a conversation with us.
For a tanker, gather the cargo tank test and inspection records along with the title, and say what product the tank last carried. Photos of the tank’s data plate, the valves and the cab give us the full picture before anyone visits.
Johnson County had 2,745 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cattle, milk and corn top its list of products. Livestock haulers, milk tankers, grain trucks and farm dump trucks are all trucks we take from owners here.
A farm truck often stays on the place it works, so tell us the ranch or dairy road it is parked on and whether a gate code is needed. If the truck carries farm plates, say so and send a photo of the plate along with the title.
When the truck is titled to a farm partnership or a family member, have the person named on the title ready to sign, or a power of attorney from them. That keeps the paperwork in step with the pickup.
The title, current registration and any service records you keep are what we ask to see first. If the title has been lost, the state’s title agency issues a replacement, and you can start that request before we collect so it is in hand when the truck leaves.
Write the VIN down exactly as it reads on the frame or door plate, since every later step in the sale is matched to it.
