Aggregate hauling

Sand and gravel east of The Woodlands

The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the 1362 (32) Route 242 Plant, a sand and gravel operation 6.3 miles east of The Woodlands, and the SPRING PLANT 8.1 miles to the south-east. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that load at pits like these are trucks we buy, and we can collect from a pit-side lot if the operator lets us through the gate.

About 8.2 miles east, the Conroe Dryer Plant appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as an industrial-mineral mine. If your truck hauled out of Conroe, photograph the bed or trailer as well as the cab and have the title in your name ready before we schedule a pickup.

Lloyd yard, a second rail yard and the fuel racks

South-east of town, 10.2 miles out, the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics shows a rail yard called LLOYD; the same network places a second yard 17.9 miles due south. A tractor that shuttles loads to either yard can stay parked where it last dropped, as long as you give us the address and someone who can open the lot.

Two petroleum product terminals, one 16.1 miles south-east and one 16.5 miles south, are on the Energy Information Administration’s terminal list for this area. Owners of tank tractors that load at those racks should keep the registration and any tank inspection papers with the title, since they answer most of our questions about the unit before we see it.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics counts a port authority 22.9 miles south of The Woodlands. A day cab that pulls containers off the docks there can be sold from your driveway up here; send the VIN and the odometer reading and we take it from that point.

Freight, lumber and coil haulers in The Woodlands

FMCSA’s carrier census counts 565 active carriers based in The Woodlands, with 380 of them hauling general freight, 110 moving machinery and large objects, 79 carrying logs, poles, beams and lumber, and 77 hauling metal sheets, coils and rolls. Flatbeds, step-decks, lowboys and log trailers with their tractors all fit what we purchase.

Of those carriers, 212 run interstate and 349 stay intrastate, while 170 are private fleets moving their own goods, according to the same FMCSA census. Interstate owners should have the cab card and any apportioned plate paperwork on hand; intrastate owners need the Texas title and current registration.

New authorities keep appearing here: the FMCSA census records 55 new carriers registering in 2025 and 49 in 2024. If you started a small operation and are now selling a single tractor, one truck is enough for us to come out.

Fleet sizes and miles on the road

Three fleets based in town run 1,247, 695 and 473 power units, with 1,085, 650 and 140 drivers respectively, by FMCSA’s carrier census. Fleet managers retiring several units at once can send us one list with VINs and yard locations, and we arrange collection from each yard.

Across 121 carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 24,515 miles per truck in a year. Local drivers split almost evenly in the census, with 2,740 working within 100 miles and 2,744 going beyond, so a tractor for sale may be parked here or out on a route; tell us where it is today.

FMCSA roadside inspection records from 2024-08-28 to 2026-08-26 cover 1,770 trucks tied to The Woodlands carriers, with a median model year of 2018. Have the model year and engine make written down when you contact us.

In those same inspection records, 37.6% of the trucks were ten or more years old. Whatever the year on your title, the steps are the same: the VIN, the title, the registration and clear photos of each side.
