Cement plants and gravel pits around town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Amrize Midlothian Plant 10.6 miles north-west of Waxahachie and the Midlothian Quarry and Plant 11.4 miles west. A dump truck, mixer or bulk tanker that has hauled out of either kiln site can stay parked where it is; send us the yard address and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
Bowles Sand & Gravel, 15.5 miles south of town on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings, and Post Oak No 1, 19 miles north-east, round out the aggregate sites around the city. If your tri-axle or end dump runs between these pits and Ellis County job sites, photograph the bed, the hoist and the data plate on the door jamb before you call.
The Ennis terminal and the Wilmer ramp
East along the highway, the Energy Information Administration records the Ennis Plant petroleum product terminal 12.2 miles from Waxahachie. Tank tractors that load there usually carry hazmat placards and tank test paperwork; put the latest test certificate in an envelope with the title so both travel together.
Container work centres on Wilmer: the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Dallas Intermodal Terminal ramp 17.1 miles north-east, and the North American Rail Network shows a rail yard of the same name at 17.2 miles plus the Miller yard 22.1 miles north. Drayage day cabs that shuttle boxes off those tracks are often parked near the ramp; tell us which lot yours is in and we will collect it from there.
Ellis County haulers and their freight
General freight is the cargo 342 of Waxahachie’s 514 active carriers file under, going by FMCSA’s carrier census. FMCSA records 372 of those operators running intrastate only, 141 crossing state lines and 143 hauling their own goods as private fleets, so a seller here could be anyone from a one-truck owner-operator to a plant’s in-house fleet.
Flatbed work stands out in the cargo filings: 81 carriers declare machinery and large objects, 75 declare metal sheets, coils and rolls, and 66 declare logs, poles, beams and lumber, per FMCSA. If your step deck or flatbed came with chains, binders, tarps or coil racks, list them when you write to us so the whole setup is described in one message.
Federal registrations also show 56 new carriers starting in Waxahachie in 2025 and 40 in 2024, according to FMCSA’s census. Newer authorities sometimes hold a truck on a lease or loan; if a lienholder is on your title, give us the lender’s name and an account contact up front.
What roadside stops show about Waxahachie rigs
Roadside stops of 540 Waxahachie-based trucks from August 2024 to August 2026, logged in FMCSA roadside inspection records, show a 2019 median model year and 34.8 percent of units at ten or more years old. Whatever year yours is, the VIN, the odometer reading and the engine make are the three details we ask for first.
Mileage filed with FMCSA by 131 local carriers works out to a median of 34,560 miles per truck each year. The carrier census also shows 544 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 942 driving beyond that radius, so have the registration and your last annual inspection report handy whether the truck stays local or runs long haul.
Fleet sizes vary widely: per FMCSA’s carrier census, one operator here runs 285 power units with 285 drivers, another 28 units with 6 drivers, and a third 20 units with 10 drivers. Selling several trucks at once is simply one conversation; send a list with each VIN and where each unit is parked.
Factory, construction and farm jobs in and around town
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts record 20,001 jobs in Waxahachie for 2023, with manufacturing holding 2,864 of them, or 14.3 percent, and transportation and warehousing 1,544, or 7.7 percent. Box trucks and tractors that serve plant shipping docks are welcome; if one is titled to a business, have the company officer who can sign it ready.
Construction accounts for 818 local jobs on LEHD figures, and County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau lists 144 construction establishments. Contractors selling a dump truck, water truck or lowboy tractor can leave it on the job site as long as we can reach it with a tow or a driver.
Ellis County has 2,563 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, corn and wheat as the leading products. A grain truck or cattle-hauling tractor kept at a ranch outside town is collected from the ranch; give us directions past the last paved road.
Bridges on the routes out of Waxahachie
The National Bridge Inventory counts 101 bridges in and around Waxahachie, with 2 posted for load limits and none under 14 feet of clearance. Tell us if your truck is parked behind one of the posted crossings, so the pickup route is planned around it.
With no low clearances listed by the Federal Highway Administration’s bridge inventory, tall loads like a sleeper with a raised roof or a loaded car hauler can usually leave by the direct road. Share the street address and a gate code, and we handle the route.
