Intrastate and private
Yoakum trucks that mostly stay inside Texas
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 68 active carriers based in Yoakum, and 59 of them are registered for intrastate work only, with 9 authorised to cross state lines. If your truck has stayed inside Texas, the Texas title and registration in your name are the two papers to find first; we collect it from your yard in town or wherever it is parked in Lavaca County.
FMCSA’s census also shows 29 of the 68 registered as private carriers that move their own goods rather than freight for hire. A feed store, a farm or a builder that runs its own tractor sells it the same way a for-hire carrier does: send the VIN, the odometer reading and photos of the cab, frame and tires, and tell us who holds the title.
One fleet registered in Yoakum lists 83 power units and 68 drivers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and two others list 25 and 11 power units. When several trucks from one Yoakum operation are up for sale together, put the VINs in one message so each unit can be lined up for a single collection trip.
Hopper and flatbed loads
Hay, farm supplies and heavy machinery off Lavaca County farms
General freight is the most common cargo class among Yoakum’s carriers, with 32 listing it, while 16 haul machinery and large objects, 15 carry grain, feed and hay, and 14 move farm supplies, the federal carrier census shows. A tractor that has pulled a hopper, a flatbed or a lowboy around these farm roads fits what we buy, and so does the trailer if you own it outright.
Lavaca County holds 2,735 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, rice and milk at the top of its sales. If your truck has hauled livestock, rice or milk off county farms, tell us which type of trailer it pulled and whether the trailer is part of the sale, so the pickup is planned for one unit or two.
Drivers working for Yoakum carriers number 125 within a 100-mile radius and 191 beyond it, FMCSA’s census records. A sleeper that spends weeks on long runs may be parked at a terminal far from Lavaca County when you decide to sell; give us its current address and a contact there, and the collection happens where the truck sits.
Between September 2024 and August 2026, inspectors stopped 70 trucks belonging to Yoakum-based carriers, and in FMCSA roadside inspection records their median model year is 2015, with 58.6 percent built ten or more model years back. Whatever year yours is, read the model year off the title or registration and include it with the VIN when you contact us.
Twenty Yoakum carriers report annual mileage to FMCSA’s census, and the median truck among them covers 28,833 miles a year. Note the current odometer reading from the dash before you write to us, and keep any service records together in the cab for the day of collection.
Aggregate and a rail yard
Sand, gravel and the Gonzales yard
Rath Pit lies 20.3 miles south of Yoakum and the Thomaston Plant 21.3 miles south, both sand and gravel operations listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has hauled aggregate from either one can be collected at the pit lot if the operator allows access, so tell us whose gate it is behind.
To the north-west, the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Gonzales rail yard 23.5 miles from town. The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists BYK USA LLC Plants & Pits, an industrial-mineral mine, 23.6 miles out in that same direction. A truck stationed near either site does not need to come back to Yoakum; send the address and we arrange the pickup there.
Plants, builders and the roads between
Manufacturing filled 527 of Yoakum’s 2,527 jobs in 2023, a 20.9 percent slice, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. A box truck or tractor that has shuttled goods for a Yoakum plant is something we buy; bring the registration and title together, and if the title has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues a certified copy to the owner of record.
Builders, too, keep trucks here: the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns counts 19 construction establishments in the Yoakum area, and their flatbeds and dump trucks qualify. A builder’s water truck or tipper sells with the same papers as any other unit: the title, the registration and, where you have them, inspection or service records.
Of the 35 bridges the National Bridge Inventory lists around Yoakum, 2 carry posted load limits and none has clearance under 14 feet. Tell us the route from the road to where your truck is parked, so the collection vehicle reaches it without meeting one of those posted spans.
The questions we get asked in Yoakum
- My truck sits at a gravel pit south of Yoakum; does it have to come off that lot first?Rath Pit and the Thomaston Plant sit 20.3 and 21.3 miles south of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from a pit lot like those once the operator agrees to let us in. Name the pit and the person who unlocks its gate for a Yoakum pickup.
- I farm in Lavaca County and my truck hauls hay and cattle; would you take a farm hauler like that?Grain, feed and hay is a listed cargo for 15 Yoakum carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and farm trucks of that kind are ones we purchase. Send the VIN, the title holder’s name and photos, and say whether the trailer goes with it.
- I can’t find the Texas title for the truck I keep in Yoakum; where do I get a replacement?A truck titled in Texas gets a certified copy of its title from the state’s title agency, issued to the owner of record. Start that request, then contact us with the VIN so the rest of the sale can be prepared while the copy is on its way.
