The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Leesburg Plant, a crushed-stone quarry, 3.5 miles north-west of Ashburn, with the Goose Creek Plant 4.5 miles out in the same direction. We collect a stone-hauling dump truck or tri-axle at the yard where it is parked, with no trip into town needed.
If the truck is kept near one of those two plants, send us the street address of the lot and the name of whoever holds the gate key. Add clear photos of the cab, the body and the VIN plate, and keep the title and current Virginia registration together so both are to hand on the day we arrive.
Fuel routes
Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration listings near Ashburn: one at Manassas, 15.7 miles south, and one at Fairfax, 16.3 miles to the south-east. Further out, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records Norfolk Southern TBT, a liquid bulk terminal, 24.1 miles south-east.
Owners of a tank truck or a tractor that pulled fuel trailers on those runs should tell us which terminals it loaded at and pull together the hazmat inspection paperwork for the tank. That history goes with the photos and lets us ask only what is still missing about the unit.
Active carriers on the federal register
In the same FMCSA census, refrigerated food and meat are each claimed by 22 of those operators and 17 report hauling motor vehicles; reefer tractors and car haulers are welcome alongside dry vans.
Of the 148, FMCSA’s carrier census counts 99 as interstate and 49 as intrastate, and 41 run private fleets carrying their own goods. Whichever group yours falls into, have the USDOT number ready when you contact us, along with the title in the name of the person or company that will sign it over.
New authorities keep arriving: FMCSA’s carrier census shows 18 Ashburn carriers registered in 2025 and 11 in 2024. A newer operator selling a first tractor should still check that the title has been transferred out of any lender’s name before we schedule collection.
Drivers and mileage
Local runs and long hauls in nearly equal parts
Carriers based here told FMCSA’s carrier census they employ 728 drivers working within 100 miles and 734 running beyond that radius. A sleeper that spends most weeks on the road may be parked somewhere far from Loudoun County when you decide to sell, and that is fine; give us its current location instead.
Among the 49 Ashburn carriers that reported mileage to the federal carrier census, the median is 25,304 miles a year per truck. Write down the odometer reading from the dash and photograph it, since that figure and the VIN are the first two things we ask for.
Fleet size varies widely in FMCSA’s carrier census here, from one operation with 201 power units and 235 drivers to another listing 40 power units against 600 drivers and a third with 24 units. A fleet manager releasing several trucks at once can send a single list of VINs and yard addresses.
Whatever year yours is, keep the roadside inspection reports it collected in the cab with the registration. Copies of the most recent ones, plus any annual inspection sticker paperwork, help us match the truck on the lot to the description you send.
