Aggregate hauling from the nearby crushed-stone pits
Midlothian Quarry, a crushed-stone operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration records 1.6 miles east of Brandermill, is close enough that a quarry dump truck may be parked almost next door. If yours hauls aggregate out of that pit, photograph the bed, the cab and the VIN plate, and tell us whether it sits on a site lot or at your home.
To the north-west, MSHA lists the Powhatan Plant, another crushed-stone quarry, at 8.7 miles. Tri-axle and quad-axle dumps that load there are trucks we purchase, and we collect them where they are parked. Have the title in the owner’s name and the current registration together before you get in touch, so the sale is not held up by paperwork.
Chesterfield County Business Patterns, published by the Census Bureau, counts 202 construction establishments in the area around Brandermill. Contractors who own one or two trucks for site work can sell a single unit to us; say which job it is on now so pickup can be planned for a day the site is open.
Fuel terminals, rail yards and the Richmond Marine Terminal
The Energy Information Administration places the Richmond Blending Terminal 11.6 miles east of Brandermill and the Richmond 1 petroleum product terminal at 12 miles. Tank tractors that load at those racks belong on our list too. Keep any terminal inspection or tank test paperwork with the truck and send photos of it with the cab and tank.
Two rail yards, Clopton and DuPont Richmond Lead, both sit 11.7 miles east according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that shuttle loads between a rail siding and a warehouse often spend nights in a yard rather than at home; give us the yard name and a gate contact.
At 12.6 miles east, the Port of Virginia’s Richmond Marine Terminal is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a roll-on/roll-off terminal. Tractors that pull chassis or flatbeds off the river docks can be sold from wherever they are parked, port lot included, once you tell us who controls access there.
Freight, paper and coil haulers based in town
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 127 active carriers based in Brandermill, 71 of them authorised for interstate work and 56 running intrastate only. Thirty-five operate as private fleets, hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. Whichever group you fall into, have your USDOT number handy when you contact us so we can match the truck to the registration.
General freight is the cargo class listed by 97 of those carriers on the federal carrier census, with paper products at 25 and large machinery at 20. Another 20 on that census haul metal sheets, coils and rolls. A flatbed tractor set up with chains, straps and coil racks is a truck we take; list the securement gear that goes with it so we know what is included.
The same FMCSA register shows 13 new carriers starting up here in 2025 and 9 in 2024. If you started an outfit recently and are scaling back, a truck bought in the last year or two can still be sold to us; bring the bill of sale or lien release alongside the title.
Odometers, home radius and fleet model years
Among 34 local carriers that report mileage, the median truck covers 46,325 miles a year, per the FMCSA carrier census. Write down the odometer reading and the engine hours before you contact us; those two figures, with the VIN, answer most of our first questions.
FMCSA’s register counts 501 drivers working within 100 miles of base, against 182 who go beyond that radius. For a truck that stays local, the service records from the shop it uses around Midlothian or Chesterfield are useful to have printed or photographed.
Of the 90 Brandermill-based trucks stopped for checks from October 2024 through August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year at 2019, and 24.4 percent were built ten or more years earlier. Whatever the model year of yours, send the year, make and model with your first message.
Wholesale counters, builders and horse farms
Wholesale trade holds 391 of the 8,073 jobs located in Brandermill in 2023 and construction 366, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. In those LEHD counts, transportation and warehousing account for 102 and manufacturing for 78. Delivery straight trucks from wholesale accounts and box trucks from small builders are both welcome; tell us the body type and its length.
Chesterfield County has 162 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with equine, soybeans and corn leading. A grain truck or a tractor that pulls a horse trailer can be collected from the farm itself. Point us to the barn or field gate and say whether the lane can take a rollback.
Retiring a group of Brandermill tractors
According to FMCSA’s carrier census, the three biggest fleets based in Brandermill run 52, 49 and 32 power units, with 50, 58 and 29 drivers respectively. An operator of that size retiring a group of tractors can sell them together; send a list with each VIN, model year and where each one is parked.
When trucks are spread between a home yard in Brandermill and a lot out by the Richmond terminals, we can collect from each address. Have one person with authority to sign titles for the company named as our contact, along with a copy of the registration for every unit.

- Will you pick up a dump truck that sits inside the Midlothian Quarry gate?Midlothian Quarry sits 1.6 miles east of Brandermill on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we can pick the truck up on site. Tell us who manages the quarry gate so the collection is arranged with them.

Send the address and the tank paperwork, and we plan the pickup around the location.

- Does a Brandermill private fleet that hauls only its own goods qualify to sell trucks to Big Ugly Truck?Thirty-five of the 127 Brandermill carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census are private fleets, and their trucks are ones we purchase.
