Tank work at the fuel racks on Newington’s east side
The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals right beside Newington: one called Newington 2, 0.4 miles east, and one called Newington, 0.8 miles east. A tank truck or a tractor that pulls a fuel trailer out of those racks is something we buy, and it can stay parked in the terminal neighbourhood until we arrive.
If the tractor loaded at either rack, keep its hazmat placarding and any tank test certificates with the title. Those sheets tell us which trailer work the cab did, and a photo of the fifth wheel next to them saves a second round of questions.
Bulk fuel moves further out as well: the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Norfolk Southern TBT liquid bulk terminal 6.1 miles north-east of Newington. Say which of these sites your truck served when you first reach us.
Hauling onto Fort Belvoir and out to the Mark Center
Fort Belvoir, 2.5 miles south-east of Newington by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is the closest military installation, and the Mark Center sits 7.9 miles north-east on that same federal list. Box trucks and flatbeds that deliver onto a base keep gate passes and delivery logs; bring those out along with the registration.
If your truck is parked somewhere that needs a pass to reach, tell us before collection day. We would rather arrange a meeting point outside the gate than have the driver turned away at the checkpoint.
Quarry work to the south-west and west
Mine Safety and Health Administration records place the Graham-Virginia crushed-stone quarry 4.6 miles south-west of Newington, with the Manassas crushed-stone quarry 17.6 miles west. Tri-axle dump trucks and roll-off haulers that have loaded stone at either one are trucks we take.
For a dump truck, photograph the bed raised and lowered, the hoist, and the plate on the door jamb. A truck still standing in a quarry yard can be collected there; give us the mine’s gate contact so the pickup is set up with them.
Builders, wholesalers and haulers
Of the 13,193 jobs that the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in Newington for 2023, construction accounts for 2,299, or 17.4 percent. Contractors here run dump trucks, stake bodies and crew cabs, and any of them can be sold with the title in the company’s name as long as an officer signs it.
Wholesale trade holds 1,730 jobs, which LEHD’s 2023 figures put at 13.1 percent, and transportation and warehousing holds another 1,315, or 10 percent. Straight trucks and tractors from those warehouses usually sit at a loading dock, so tell us the dock number and the hours someone is on site.
Manufacturing is smaller, at 577 jobs and 4.4 percent according to that same LEHD release. A single box truck from a shop floor is handled exactly like a fleet tractor: VIN, title, photos, location.
Horse farms, nurseries and beekeepers around Newington
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 77 farms in Fairfax County, and the top listed products are equine, potted flowering plants and honey. Horse operations keep stock trailers and the pickups or medium-duty trucks that pull them, and nurseries keep flatbeds for plant deliveries.
A farm truck registered with farm plates in Virginia still needs a clean title in the owner’s name. If that title is missing, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles issues the replacement, so request it before you contact us.
The questions we get asked in Newington
- My tank truck sits a few blocks from the Newington fuel racks, so does it have to be driven anywhere first? The Energy Information Administration places both Newington terminals within 0.8 miles of town, and we collect from right there. Give us the street address and who can let the driver in.
- Can you pick up a dump truck from the Graham-Virginia quarry? The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Graham-Virginia 4.6 miles south-west of Newington, and a truck parked in that yard can be collected where it stands once the gate contact agrees a time.
- Our dump truck is titled to a Fairfax County building contractor, so which person signs the title over?Construction holds 2,299 Newington jobs in the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts for 2023, and many of those trucks are company-titled; an officer of the business signs the title, and we ask for a letter naming that person.
- I can’t find the title for a truck kept near Fort Belvoir; who issues a duplicate in Virginia?Newington is in Fairfax County, and a Virginia replacement title comes from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles; request it first, then send us the VIN and photos.
