Aggregate trucks off the quarry roads north-west of Short Pump
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Royal Stone, a crushed-stone quarry 3.3 miles north-west of Short Pump, and the Rockville Plant, another crushed-stone operation 3.5 miles out in that same direction. A dump truck or tri-axle that hauls aggregate out of either gate can be sold from wherever it parks between loads. Give us the yard address and the name of whoever holds the key, and we arrange the collection around them.
Farther along the same north-west line, the Montpelier Plant appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as an industrial-mineral mine 11.5 miles away. If your truck runs that stretch of Hanover County roads, photograph the body, the tailgate, the frame rails and the cab, and send the VIN with them. Those few pictures let us answer you about the actual truck instead of a description of one.
Quarry trucks often sit on a contractor’s lot rather than at the owner’s house. Tell us whose ground the truck is on, so we can call ahead and the gate is open when we arrive.
Drayage and tank work toward the Richmond side
South-east of town, the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the ACCA rail yard 9.1 miles from Short Pump and a Richmond yard at 12.9 miles. Tractors that dray freight to and from those yards are the kind of truck we buy here, day cab or sleeper. Have the registration and the title in your name before you call, and the rest of the sale follows from those two papers.
Transflo CSXT, a liquid bulk terminal 9.3 miles to the south-east, is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and the Energy Information Administration shows two Richmond petroleum product terminals at 13.7 and 13.8 miles. A tanker tractor or a straight-truck fuel unit that loads at those racks can stay parked near the terminal while you deal with us by phone. Mention which rack the truck served and keep any inspection reports with the title.
Tank equipment carries its own paperwork. If you have annual tank test records or a service log, scan them alongside the cab photos, and if they are missing, simply tell us what the truck hauled.
Trucking companies based around Short Pump
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 47 active motor carriers here, with 38 of them hauling general freight, 8 refrigerated food, 8 meat and 7 beverages. Box trucks, reefers and dry-van tractors make up much of what those operations put on the road, and any of them can be sold where it sits. If a reefer unit is mounted on the truck, include a photo of its hour meter with the cab shots.
Of those carriers, 31 run interstate, 16 stay intrastate and 11 operate as private fleets, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. A private-fleet truck is usually titled to the business, not a person. Have an officer of the company ready to sign the title, and bring a letter on company paper if the signer’s authority could be questioned.
New authorities keep appearing in the same FMCSA records: 5 carriers registered in 2025 and 3 in 2024. If you started an operation recently and are now letting a truck go, a title still held by a lender needs the lien release before the sale closes, so ask your bank for it early.
From single trucks to big fleets
In FMCSA’s carrier census, one operation registered here lists 4,155 power units and 4,379 drivers, another 315 power units and 492 drivers, and a third just 14 trucks with 16 drivers. Whether you are selling one tractor or a block of units retired from a bigger fleet, send the list of VINs and the lot where each one sits. We can collect several trucks from one yard on the same visit.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 2,855 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 2,209 going beyond that radius. A truck kept on short regional routes may be parked at a customer site rather than the home terminal. Tell us the exact address, even if it is out of state, and we will plan around it.
Note the odometer reading when you send your photos so it matches the title paperwork.
How new the tractors stopped on western Henrico roads are
Across 1,910 trucks checked between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records give a median model year of 2023, with 9.37 percent of those trucks ten or more years old. Both newer and older tractors are trucks we buy. Whatever the year, have the title, the current registration and a clear shot of the VIN plate ready.
If your truck went through one of those roadside checks, keep the inspection report with the rest of the paperwork. It is a public record of the unit and helps match the VIN to the truck we see in your photos.
Work and land in Henrico
Wholesale routes, building sites and Henrico farm lanes
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 16,553 jobs here in 2023, including 256 in wholesale trade, 224 in transportation and warehousing and 138 in construction. Delivery trucks from wholesale accounts and flatbeds from building sites are both trucks we buy. Have the registration current, or tell us when it lapsed, so the title transfer is straightforward.
Builders are well represented too: 70 construction firms keep an address in this part of Henrico, per the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. A contractor’s dump truck, stake bed or crane truck can be collected from the job yard. If the title is lost, Virginia’s title agency issues a replacement, so request one before we arrive.
Henrico County has 84 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with soybeans, honey and cattle as the leading products. A grain truck or livestock hauler parked on one of those farms can be sold from the farm lane; send directions and a photo of the title with the truck pictures.
