Fuel racks along the Dumfries corridor
The Energy Information Administration lists the DUMFRIES petroleum product terminal 3 miles east of Triangle and the NEWINGTON 2 terminal 14.6 miles to the north-east. A tank truck that loads at either rack is often parked close to it between runs, so tell us which terminal yard or nearby lot holds yours and we can arrange collection there.
Further up the same corridor, Norfolk Southern TBT appears in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings as a liquid bulk terminal 20.5 miles north-east. If your tanker has hauled to that terminal, list the product it carried and send the tank’s most recent inspection certificate along with the title.
Stone and gravel on both sides of town
Two crushed-stone quarries bracket Triangle in Mine Safety and Health Administration records: STAFFORD, 8.9 miles south-west, and GRAHAM-VIRGINIA, 10.1 miles north-east. Dump trucks and tri-axles that run aggregate out of those pits are often parked at the quarry or a contractor’s yard; give us that address and the name of whoever can open the gate.
The Amrize Rappahannock Mine, a sand and gravel operation 22.5 miles south in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, adds a third source of loads. For any truck that has worked these sites, a clear photo of the body, the hoist and the VIN plate, plus the registration card, are the first things to send us.
Prince William County had 14 construction establishments in the area covered by County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau, the kind of firms that order that stone. If your dump truck belongs to one of them, have whoever signs for the business ready to sign the title too.
Quantico
Trucks near the Marine Corps base
Marine Corps Base Quantico lies 7.5 miles west of Triangle and the Marine Corps Museum 3.1 miles south-west, both shown as military installations by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Moving vans and car carriers serving families who live near the base are part of the local truck mix.
If you are being reassigned away from Quantico and your truck has to stay behind, you can leave it parked in Triangle or Dumfries. Send the title, a photo of the odometer and a local contact before you go, and the rest of the sale can be handled by phone and email from your next posting.
Triangle is home base for 47 active motor carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census. In that FMCSA census, 34 list general freight, 10 haul motor vehicles, 7 move household goods and 6 do driveaway or towaway work; a box truck, a rollback and a sleeper tractor are all ordinary here.
Of those 47 carriers, 21 operate interstate and 26 stay intrastate, while 15 run private fleets hauling their own goods, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. A private-fleet truck is often titled to the parent business rather than to a driver, so check the name on the title before you contact us.
New registrations in that same FMCSA file numbered 9 carriers in 2025 and 5 in 2024. Many of those are one-truck operations; if yours is, the title in your own name and your USDOT number are the two things to have to hand.
From one-truck outfits to bigger fleets
Among Triangle’s registered carriers, the federal census lists one fleet of 24 power units with 17 drivers, then fleets of 5 and 4 trucks. An owner selling several units from a fleet that size can send one list of VINs and parking spots and we will work through it as a single job.
Twelve carriers reported mileage, and their median truck covered 56,000 miles a year according to FMCSA. FMCSA’s census also counts 37 drivers working within 100 miles of home and 54 working beyond that radius; your truck may be parked in Triangle or several states away when you decide to sell; either way, tell us where it is.
Soybean, cattle and horse farms nearby
Soybeans, cattle and equine operations lead the 316 Prince William County farms tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Grain trucks, livestock haulers and horse-trailer tow rigs from those farms usually stay on the property, and we can collect from a farm lane as easily as from a yard.
For 2023, LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau place 581 jobs inside Triangle itself. Whether your truck served one of those employers or a farm out in the county, the title, the registration and any service records you kept are what to gather before you send us photos.
The questions we get asked in Triangle
- Our fuel tanker sits on a lot beside the Dumfries rack; does it have to come off that lot first? The Energy Information Administration places the DUMFRIES terminal 3 miles east of Triangle, and we collect from a lot near it. Give us the lot owner’s name and number and the Dumfries pickup gets booked through them.
- With orders taking me away from Quantico, can a truck left behind in Triangle still be sold?Marine Corps Base Quantico is 7.5 miles west of Triangle in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, and a truck left near it can be sold while you are elsewhere. Leave us the title, the keys with a contact, and the address.
- Is a dump truck hauling stone out of STAFFORD something you buy?The STAFFORD crushed-stone quarry is 8.9 miles south-west of Triangle in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and dump trucks working it are among the trucks we buy. Photos of the dump body, the hoist and the VIN plate get the Stafford sale moving.
