Two Fairfax fuel terminals to the south-west
The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals, FAIRFAX and FAIRFAX BLENDING TERMINAL, both 5.6 miles south-west of Tysons. Whether your tanker or fuel truck is kept at a yard beside those racks or back in Tysons, we collect it from wherever it sits between loads.
If your tanker has hauled out of the Fairfax racks, gather the tank’s inspection and test records along with the title before you call. Photos of the tank, the hose reel and the cab, plus the VIN, let us understand the unit from the first message.
Tank trailers at the Norfolk Southern rail transfer
Listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a liquid bulk terminal, Norfolk Southern TBT sits 9.8 miles south-east of Tysons. Tractors that shuttle tank trailers between that rail transfer point and customers around the county are part of what we buy.
Should the tractor be kept at a lot near the TBT site, tell us who controls the gate and give us a contact for that lot. Bring the registration and any service records for the tractor; a separate note covering the trailer, if you are selling both, keeps the two titles from getting mixed up.
Crushed stone at Chantilly and to the south
Chantilly Crushed Stone Incorporated, 14.3 miles west, and GRAHAM-VIRGINIA, 16.3 miles south, both appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as crushed-stone quarries. Tri-axle dump trucks and end-dump tractors that pull aggregate out of pits like these are trucks we purchase from their owners.
A dump truck that spends its days at a quarry face may be easier to reach at the pit than at your home address. Give us the quarry name and where the truck is parked on site, and send photos of the body, the hoist and the cab.
Construction and wholesale jobs among the offices
Of the 114,948 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in Tysons for 2023, construction holds 3,183, or 2.8 percent. Contractors on those jobs run box trucks, flatbeds, stake bodies and small dumps, and any of them can be sold to us straight from the job trailer or the contractor’s yard.
Wholesale trade accounts for 1,713 local jobs in the same LEHD figures, transportation and warehousing for 357 and manufacturing for 198. Delivery straight trucks and reefer units from that wholesale work are welcome here; have the title in the name of whoever is signing, plus a lien release if the title shows a lienholder.
Titles, liens and the Virginia DMV
Virginia titles for commercial trucks are issued through Virginia’s state title agency. If the title for a truck kept around Tysons is missing, the replacement request goes to that office, and we can talk through the sale while it is on its way.
When a business owns the truck, the person signing needs authority to sign for that company. Keep the registration card, the title and any lien release together, and add the VIN and a current odometer photo when you first reach out.
Farm trucks and research sites in Fairfax County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 77 farms in Fairfax County, with equine operations, potted flowering plants and honey as the leading products. Trucks that tow horse trailers, nursery delivery trucks and farm flatbeds from those places can be sold to us from the barn or greenhouse lot where they are kept.
Seven miles east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics marks the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency as military installations. If your truck is parked anywhere a visitor needs clearance, tell us at the start so the collection can be arranged with whoever grants access.
