Tank work off the racks
Tankers loading west and north-east of the mill
The Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal at Manassas, 6.4 miles west of Union Mill, and another at Fairfax, 6.8 miles to the north-east. A tank truck or fuel tractor that loads at either one is likely to sit near home between runs, so give us the street address where it parks and we will plan collection there.
If your tractor has pulled product out of the Manassas or Fairfax racks, have the title and current registration together before you call. Photograph the hazmat paperwork, tank test records and any service history you kept as well; together they record what the unit carried and where it worked.
Fourteen miles east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records Norfolk Southern TBT as a liquid bulk terminal. A tanker that ran between that site and the two Fairfax County racks fits what we buy; tell us which of the three it served most often.
Dump trucks working the western stone pits
Two crushed-stone quarries appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration records west of town: Manassas at 7.4 miles and the Bull Run Plant at 9.2 miles. Dump trucks, tri-axles and tractors with end-dump trailers that haul from those pits are the kind of equipment we collect from yards along that western side.
For a quarry hauler, send clear photos of the body, the frame, the cab and the VIN plate, plus the title. If the truck stays parked at a pit or a contractor’s lot rather than at your house, say which one; we come to the truck, wherever it sits.
Body and trailer details matter on aggregate equipment, so list the bed length, the axle setup and whether the trailer is part of the sale. Having those answers written down before we talk keeps the conversation about your truck.
Union Mill builders and their work trucks
Of the 680 Union Mill jobs in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts, 108 sit in construction, a 15.9 percent slice of local work. Crew cabs, flatbeds, stake beds and small dump trucks belonging to those workers are welcome here, whether one truck or several.
Builders, site-work firms and other contractors make up 48 construction establishments near the mill, by the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally. If your business is one of them and you are letting go of more than one vehicle, send the VINs as a list with the title status of each, so every unit can be collected in a single visit to the yard.
A contractor’s truck often carries racks, toolboxes or a liftgate; tell us what is fitted and what you plan to remove before collection, so the photos you send match the truck we pick up.
Horse country trucks
Equine and nursery operations in Fairfax County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counted 77 farms in Fairfax County, with equine, potted flowering plants and honey heading the list of what they produce. Horse operations tend to run stock trailers and the pickups and medium-duty trucks that pull them, and nurseries use box trucks and flatbeds to move plants.
Farm trucks are often kept in a barn or field rather than on a paved lot. Tell us how the truck can be reached, whether a gate needs opening and who will be there, and have the title in the name of whoever is selling it.
Base service trucks between Union Mill and Belvoir
East of Union Mill, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists two military installations: Fort Belvoir at 13.7 miles and Mark Center at 14.6 miles. Contractors who service those sites run box trucks, utility bodies and flatbeds, and we buy those trucks from their owners in this part of Fairfax County.
If a truck has worked on or around a base, keep the title and registration with it and take off any site passes or access stickers before we arrive. Photos of the odometer and the VIN plate are the two things we ask for first.
Signing it across
Getting a Union Mill title signed over
A Virginia truck is sold with its title signed over by the owner named on it. When that title is lost, the state’s title agency issues a replacement; ask for one before you contact us so the paperwork is complete at pickup.
If a lender still holds a lien, have the payoff letter or lien release ready. With the title, the registration and photos in hand, everything else about selling a Union Mill truck can be settled on one call.
The questions we get asked in Union Mill
- Will you collect a tanker that loads at the Manassas terminal? The Manassas petroleum product terminal is 6.4 miles west of Union Mill on the Energy Information Administration’s list, and tankers that serve it are trucks we buy; we collect from wherever the tractor is parked.
- My tri-axle hauls out of Bull Run Plant. Is that close enough for you?Bull Run Plant, a crushed-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 9.2 miles west, is within our pickup area, so a dump truck parked at that pit or a nearby yard can be collected there.
- Can my Union Mill building outfit sell a handful of crew trucks together? With 48 construction establishments counted by County Business Patterns locally, a contractor here may have more than one truck to sell; send each VIN with its title status and we arrange one collection for the lot.
- How do I sell a Fairfax County truck whose Virginia title I cannot find?Union Mill sellers replace a lost title through the state’s title agency; request the duplicate first, then send us photos and the VIN while it is on its way.
