Dump trucks between Victoria and two crushed-stone pits
Burkeville Plant, a crushed-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 13.4 miles north of Victoria, sits on one side of town, and Mecklenburg Rock, another crushed-stone operation in the same federal records, lies 17.6 miles to the south. A dump truck or tri-axle that runs between those pits and job sites can be collected wherever it is parked, whether that is a yard on the edge of Victoria or a lot near either quarry.
If your truck has spent its working life on quarry roads, send us photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab, plus the VIN plate. Tell us which quarry it served and whether it is still parked there; the crew will plan its route to that gate.
Seven construction establishments operate in the county, per the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. Their trucks share the same stone routes, and a contractor closing out a dump truck or flatbed can hand us the title and keys at the shop rather than bringing anything into town.
Logs, lumber and coil loads from fifteen local carriers
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 15 active motor carriers based in Victoria, and nine of them list general freight while six haul logs, poles, beams or lumber. A log truck with a loader, a lowboy for timber equipment or a plain dry-van tractor all fit what we collect here.
Four of those carriers record metal sheets, coils and rolls as cargo, and three move household goods, the same federal census adds. If your tractor has pulled coil or flatbed loads, include the trailer details in your message if it goes with the truck, and say so if it does not.
Fleets here are small: the three largest on FMCSA’s census run four, three and three power units. For a one- or two-truck owner, the paperwork is simply the title in your name, the registration card and any service records kept in the glovebox or the office drawer.
Long hauls from home
Most Victoria drivers work past the hundred-mile mark
Of the drivers registered to local carriers, 227 operate beyond a hundred-mile radius and 108 stay inside it, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. A sleeper tractor that spends weeknights out of state may be home only on weekends, so tell us when it will be back in Victoria and we will schedule collection around that.
Eleven local carriers are authorised for interstate work and four keep to intrastate routes in Virginia, as federal motor carrier records show; five run private fleets hauling their own goods. Whichever applies to you, have the title and the current registration together before we arrive.
Half the trucks run by the six local carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA cover more than 46,533 miles a year, and half cover less. Note the odometer reading in your first message along with the VIN, and we can start the rest of the questions from there.
Replacing a lost title at Victoria’s own DMV Select
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles issues replacement titles through its DMV Customer Service Centers and DMV Select offices, and the nearest one, DMV Select - Victoria, is at 1809 Main Street, Victoria, 23974, just 0.1 miles from the town centre. If the title for your truck has been lost, that counter is where a replacement starts.
Bring the registration, your photo ID and the VIN when you go in. If a lender’s name still appears on the title, a lien release from that lender should go with you too, so the replacement comes back clear and ready to sign over to us.
Tobacco barns and pasture
Barns and fields outside Victoria hold grain and cattle trucks
Around Victoria, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 299 farms across Lunenburg County, with tobacco, soybeans and cattle as the leading products. Grain trucks, livestock haulers and farm-plated flatbeds often sit in a barn or field between seasons, and we can collect from the farm itself.
If your truck carries farm plates, say so up front and send a photo of the registration. Give us directions to the field or barn where it stands, including any gate or lane a tow vehicle would need to use.
Rail sidings and the post
Crewe’s rail yard and Fort Barfoot to the east
The CREWE rail yard, recorded in the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, sits 13.8 miles north-east of Victoria. Trucks that shuttle freight to and from rail sidings in that direction can be picked up at the yard lot or at your home base, whichever is easier.
East of town by 17.6 miles, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists NG Fort Barfoot MTC & FMS 15, a military installation. If your truck is parked near the base or along the road there, give us the nearest civilian address so the collection crew is not stopped at a gate.
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put Victoria’s workforce at 281 positions in 2023. Many trucks here sit at an owner’s house or shop; tell us which applies and we will come to that address.
