Construction crews and Alderwood Manor’s job base
Construction is the biggest single block of work here: 428 of the 1,779 Alderwood Manor jobs in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts, or 24.1 percent, against 201 in manufacturing and 108 in transportation and warehousing. A dump truck, a flatbed or a stake-bed that carries materials for a Snohomish County contractor is exactly the sort of vehicle we collect here, often from a home driveway or a contractor’s yard rather than a commercial lot.
If your builder’s truck sits at a residence off a cul-de-sac, give us the street address and tell us whether a tow rig can reach it without moving other vehicles. Have the Washington title in the name on the registration, and send photos of the body, the cab interior and the VIN plate before we set a pickup.
Manufacturing accounts for 201 local jobs, or 11.3 percent, under the same LEHD 2023 tally. Box trucks and straight trucks that shuttle parts and finished goods between shops are on our list too; any service invoices you kept help us match the truck to its history.
Warehousing, wholesale and local delivery trucks
Transportation and warehousing holds 108 jobs and wholesale trade another 84 here, according to 2023 figures in the Census Bureau’s LEHD series. Day cabs, reefers and delivery boxes from those employers are trucks we collect in town.
If you ran a route truck for a wholesaler and now own it outright, tell us the make, model year and VIN, and whether a lien was ever recorded against it. A released lien should be noted on the title or covered by a lender’s release letter before we arrive.
Trailers count as well. Tell us whether the tractor and trailer carry separate titles; each one is signed over on its own paperwork.
Seaport and rail yards
The Everett seaport and the Bayside yards
Everett, about 11.2 miles north, is listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a strategic seaport. Chassis haulers and drayage tractors that work the docks there may be parked near the waterfront rather than at home in Alderwood Manor, and that is fine; give us the yard address and the name of whoever can open the gate.
A little farther up, the North American Rail Network maps two rail yards, Bayside Yard at 12.7 miles and Bayside at 12.8 miles, both north of town. If your truck has moved freight to and from those yards, mention it when you first contact us so our questions start with the work it actually did.
Port and rail access sometimes calls for gate badges or escorts. Let us know ahead of time if the lot has rules like that, and we will plan the collection around them.
Crushed stone
High Rock Quarry and gravel hauling
Heidelberg Materials High Rock Quarry, a crushed-stone operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 13.6 miles east, is the closest mine to Alderwood Manor. End dumps, belly dumps and tandem dump trucks that run stone out of that pit and onto local job sites belong on the list of what we buy.
For an aggregate truck, photograph the bed, the hoist, the tarp system and the tires along with the cab and the odometer. If the truck is still parked at a quarry or a contractor’s gravel yard, tell us who controls access and whether a loaded bed needs emptying first.
Ramps and racks
Intermodal ramps and fuel terminals near Seattle
To the south, Terminal 30 at 16.2 miles and Seattle International Gateway at 16.7 miles both appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings as rail intermodal ramps. Container tractors that work those ramps out of a south Snohomish County base are welcome; start by sending us the VIN and the odometer reading.
The Energy Information Administration records two petroleum product terminals near there, the Shell Seattle Terminal at 16.6 miles and a second Seattle terminal at 16.7 miles. Tankers that load at those racks often carry hazmat placards and inspection paperwork; keep the tank test records with the truck, since they tell us what the tank has hauled.
If you live in Alderwood Manor but the tanker or container tractor stays at a Seattle-area yard, you can handle the sale from home. Send the yard location and a contact name, and we collect from there.
Farm and dairy
Snohomish County dairy and feed trucks
Snohomish County’s 1,418 farms, tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, lead with milk, then cattle, then corn. Milk tankers, livestock haulers and grain or silage trucks from those operations are trucks we purchase, and they are usually parked on the farm itself.
Farm trucks are sometimes titled to a family member or to the farm’s business name. Check whose name is on the title before you call, and if it is not yours, have that person ready to sign the transfer.
Where Ecology’s heavy-duty truck rules stand
Washington’s Department of Ecology guidance lists enforcement of the Advanced Clean Trucks rule, adopted from California under the state’s Clean Vehicles Program, as paused. The same publication shows the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standards for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles with enforcement paused as well.
An updated regulatory guidance document covering those rules is in force, according to that Ecology publication. None of it changes what you need to sell an older diesel tractor here: a title, a registration and photos.
The questions we get asked in Alderwood Manor
- My dump truck hauls from High Rock Quarry and stays parked out east. Does it have to come back to the Alderwood Manor house first?High Rock Quarry sits about 13.6 miles east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing, and we collect from the quarry side or the contractor’s yard where the truck is kept. A quarry-side address and the name of whoever holds the gate key is all we need to set it up.
- My drayage tractor works the Everett seaport. Can you pick up near the docks?Everett’s strategic seaport is about 11.2 miles north, per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and a waterfront yard there is a normal pickup spot for us. Tell us about any badge or escort the yard requires.
- The truck belongs to our dairy and is titled to the farm. Is a farm-titled milk truck something you take?Snohomish County’s 1,418 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture include many titled to a business, and a farm-owned truck sells the same way. The person authorised to sign for the farm signs the title at pickup.
- Does Washington’s paused clean-truck enforcement affect selling my diesel tractor?Department of Ecology guidance shows Advanced Clean Trucks and the Low NOx Omnibus with enforcement paused, and selling a tractor you own needs only the title, the registration and photos.
