Gate roads
Two naval installations within five miles
Naval Base Kitsap Bangor lies 0.1 miles north-west of town, and Naval Base Kitsap - Keyport sits 4.6 miles east, both listed as military installations by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck is parked on a lot that sits behind a gate or a checkpoint, tell us up front who can let a driver in and what identification they will want to see.
Some trucks around Bangor Base are kept at a home driveway off the installation roads, others at a contractor yard toward Keyport. Either location suits us. Send the street address or a pin, plus a phone number for whoever holds the keys, and we plan the collection around that spot.
Shine, Penny Creek and the Kitsap stone quarries
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Plant #2, a sand and gravel operation, 5.7 miles south of Bangor Base, and the Shine Facility, another sand and gravel site, 10.3 miles north. Dump trucks, end dumps and belly-dump tractors are the usual kit on runs like these. Photograph the bed, the hoist and the tailgate alongside the cab so we can see the whole unit.
Two crushed-stone quarries appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration records: Penny Creek Rock Products 11 miles to the north-west and Kitsap Quarry 11.6 miles south. If your truck still sits at a pit or quarry office, let us know whether the access road is open to a tow unit and which hours the site is staffed.
Rail yards to the south and east
On the North American Rail Network, maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the BREMERTON NAVAL yard is 11.9 miles south of Bangor Base. A tractor or flatbed that has shuttled freight to a yard like that can be collected from wherever it last parked, not only from town.
BALMER YARD, 16.3 miles east, is the other rail yard the North American Rail Network places within reach. Whether your truck sits at a yard gate or a lot near one, have the VIN and the current odometer reading ready when you first get in touch; those two numbers answer most of what we need to ask.
Shop work, Christmas tree lots and cattle around Kitsap
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 1,450 jobs in Bangor Base, 70 of them in manufacturing, a 4.8 percent share. Box trucks, service bodies and light-duty work trucks tied to small shops fall within what we purchase, so list the body type and any lift gate or crane when you describe yours.
Kitsap County had 570 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cut Christmas trees, Christmas trees with short-term woody crops, and cattle at the top of the list. Flatbeds, stake trucks and livestock haulers from tree lots and cattle places around the county are welcome; send photos of the deck or the trailer hookup with the cab.
Clean Trucks and Low NOx rules on pause
A Washington Department of Ecology publication lists enforcement of Advanced Clean Trucks, as adopted in Washington’s Clean Vehicles Program, as paused. Ecology’s same notice marks the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standards, Washington’s medium- and heavy-duty vehicle emission rule, as paused too.
That Ecology document also carries an updated regulatory guidance notice for those rules, listed as in force. If your truck carries emission labels or engine certification stickers, photograph them with the VIN plate so the engine details are on record when we review it.
A clear title in your name is the main document. If it is lost, the state’s title agency issues a replacement, and you can start that request before we arrange the collection at Bangor Base.
Registration, any inspection reports and service records help us read the truck’s history alongside the photos. If a lender is still on the title, give us the lender’s name and contact so the release can be sorted out with them directly.
The questions we get asked in Bangor Base
- The dump truck is still at Kitsap Quarry. Will you pick it up from the quarry lot?Kitsap Quarry is 11.6 miles south and Penny Creek Rock Products 11 miles north-west, per the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and a quarry lot is a fine pickup spot. Tell us the site hours and whether a tow unit can reach the truck.
- Washington’s clean truck rules are confusing. Does my truck have to meet them before I sell? For a Bangor Base truck, Ecology’s notice puts both Advanced Clean Trucks enforcement and the Low NOx Omnibus standards on pause. Send us the engine label photos and the VIN and we look at the truck as it is.
