Screens, pits, White River
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Jensen Portable Screens, a sand and gravel operation, 3 miles east of Buckley, with White River Quarry 4.7 miles east and Ryterra LLC, another crushed-stone quarry, at 4.9 miles. A dump truck or end-dump trailer that has spent its days on those haul roads can be collected from the quarry gate or the yard where it parks at night; give us the site name and who holds the key.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists Enumclaw Pit & Plant, a sand and gravel operation 4.2 miles north-east, so a truck parked there and a second one in town can be collected together. If you run more than one aggregate truck, send each VIN with photos of the box, the frame and the cab so we can look at both at once.
Bunks and lowboys
Log loads, lumber and heavy equipment
Of the 206 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census for Buckley, 48 list logs, poles, beams and lumber as cargo and 56 list machinery and large objects. Log trucks with their bunks and stakes, and lowboys or flatbeds used to move equipment, are both on our list; tell us what trailer goes with the tractor and whether it is part of the sale.
General freight is the cargo most often listed, at 90 carriers in the federal carrier census, and 23 carriers here haul grain, feed or hay. For any of these, have the Washington title in the registered owner’s name and the current registration ready before pickup, along with whatever service records you kept.
In-state hauling
Trucks that stay close to the plateau
FMCSA registrations show 173 Buckley carriers running intrastate only, against 33 that cross state lines, and 126 of the 206 operate as private fleets hauling their own goods. A contractor’s truck that never leaves Washington still needs the same paperwork from you: title, registration and the name of the business it is registered to.
Drivers tell the federal carrier census a similar story about distance, with 325 reported working within 100 miles and 168 working beyond it. Among the 51 carriers that reported annual mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 20,000 miles per truck; read the odometer when you contact us and include a photo of the dash.
Fleet sizes on the FMCSA register run from one-truck owners up to an operation with 42 power units and 40 drivers, with others at 18 units and at 10. If you are selling several trucks from one yard, list them together with their VINs and we can arrange a single collection.
Buckley’s builders and Pierce County’s flower farms
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 2,445 jobs in Buckley, and construction accounts for 335 of them, or 13.7 percent; manufacturing adds 92 and wholesale trade 66. County Business Patterns, also from the Census Bureau, records 93 construction establishments, so a dump truck or flatbed here is often parked at a contractor’s shop rather than a truck yard; tell us which.
Across Pierce County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,347 farms, with cut flowers and cultivated greens, cattle and hemp at the top of the list. A stock trailer rig or farm truck kept on a property outside town can be collected there; tell us whether the gate is locked and whether the ground is firm enough for a tow truck.
Docks and yards west
From Buckley to the Tacoma docks and Auburn’s yards
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Port of Tacoma about 10.2 miles south-west of Buckley and the Pierce County Terminal intermodal ramp 17.5 miles west. A day cab that pulls containers between those docks can be picked up at the terminal lot or at home; give us the address and gate access.
North-west of town, the North American Rail Network maps two yards at Auburn, 13.1 and 13.2 miles away. If your truck works out of Auburn and you live in Buckley, you do not have to move it; just tell us where it is parked.
