High Rock Quarry and the pits north of Chain Lake
Six miles south of Chain Lake, Heidelberg Materials High Rock Quarry turns out crushed stone, on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s site list. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that load at a quarry face like that one can be collected from the yard where they are kept, so give us that address rather than the quarry gate.
Two sand and gravel operations sit to the north on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register: Menzel Lake Gravel at 11.6 miles and Getchell Pit at 12 miles. If your truck shuttled between those pits and job sites, note the body type, the axle count and whether a pup or transfer trailer goes with it when you send photos.
Iron Mountain Quarry, another crushed-stone site, is 19.5 miles north-east according to MSHA records. A truck that ran the longer haul out of there is just as easy for us to pick up; tell us which side of the county it is stored on and who holds the keys.
A construction share of local jobs
Of the 312 jobs counted in Chain Lake for 2023 in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 67 were in construction, a 21.5 percent share. Owners of a dump truck, a flatbed or a mixer that served those crews can start by sending the VIN, the title and a set of photos of the cab, frame and body.
Construction trucks often finish a season parked at a contractor’s lot rather than at home. For a truck in that spot, the LEHD-counted construction trade here means we are used to arranging collection with a site contact; give us a name and phone number for whoever can open the gate.
If the truck belonged to a construction business that has since closed or changed hands, bring whatever shows the transfer of ownership along with the title. Paperwork that ties the truck to the person selling it is what lets the sale go ahead.
Yard and waterfront
Delta Yard, 11.5 miles north-west, appears in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that dray loads to and from a rail yard at that distance are trucks we buy; have the registration and any annual inspection reports ready.
West of Chain Lake by 12.3 miles, Everett is named a strategic seaport by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that pulled chassis or flatbeds around the Everett docks can stay where it is parked; send us the location and we plan the pickup there.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also lists a military installation at Marysville, 17.5 miles north-west. If your truck is stored on or near a site with controlled access, tell us at the start so the collection can be set up with the right contact.
Snohomish County dairy and feed hauling
Snohomish County holds 1,418 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, where milk leads, then cattle, then corn. Grain trucks, livestock haulers and the tractors that pull milk tankers off those farms are all trucks we collect.
On a dairy or cattle operation near Chain Lake, the title may carry the farm’s name instead of yours. Check whose name is on the title before you contact us, and if it is the farm’s, have the paperwork that shows who can sign for it.
Farm trucks that sit in a barn or a field between seasons can be collected from there. Photos taken where it stands, plus directions to reach it from the road, are what we need to plan the trip.
Paused enforcement on heavy-duty rules
According to the Washington Department of Ecology’s guidance publication, enforcement of the Advanced Clean Trucks rule, as adopted in Washington’s Clean Vehicles Program, is paused. If a diesel tractor has been parked while you watched how those rules would land in Snohomish County, the paused status is the current position.
The Washington Department of Ecology’s guidance publication lists enforcement of the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standards, WAC 173-423-081, as paused too, while its updated guidance on those rules is in force. Neither rule stops you selling a truck you already own; have the engine model year from the door label in your photos.
