Between High Rock Quarry and the Issaquah pit
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Heidelberg Materials High Rock Quarry, a crushed-stone operation, about 6.7 miles north-east of Cottage Lake. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has hauled stone out of that site can be collected from a yard near the quarry or from your driveway; tell us which when you call.
Fourteen miles to the south, at 14.1 miles on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register, sits the Issaquah Pit & Plant, a sand and gravel operation. If your truck is parked down toward Issaquah rather than at home in Cottage Lake, give us that address instead, along with the name of whoever holds the gate key.
For any aggregate hauler, send us the VIN, the body type (dump bed, transfer box, belly dump) and clear photos of the cab, frame and bed. A note on what the truck last hauled helps us too.
Small, mostly intrastate carriers around the lake
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 44 active carriers based in Cottage Lake, and 36 of them run intrastate only, against 8 that cross state lines. Most of those trucks, in other words, are registered and parked within Washington, which keeps the collection simple.
Of the same 44, the FMCSA carrier census marks 31 as private fleets, meaning companies hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. If the truck belongs to a business, have the registration in the company’s name and someone authorised to sign the title for it.
The three biggest operations on the FMCSA register here run 5, 3 and 3 power units. A one- or two-truck owner selling a single tractor is the normal case in Cottage Lake, and that is the sale we are set up for.
Freight boxes, equipment tractors and refuse bodies
General freight leads the cargo listed by local carriers, with 15 carriers naming it in FMCSA’s census, followed by machinery and large objects at 6. A box truck or tractor from general freight work and a lowboy tractor from equipment moves both fit what we purchase.
Three carriers each list garbage and household goods, per the same FMCSA carrier census. Roll-off trucks, rear loaders and moving vans are all on our list; photograph the body and any lift or hoist with the cab so we see the whole unit.
Driver records filed with FMCSA put 59 drivers working within 100 miles and 24 going farther. For the 9 carriers reporting mileage in that census, the median sits at 10,000 miles a truck each year, so have the odometer reading ready when you get in touch.
Inspection-lane model years for lake-area rigs
FMCSA roadside inspection records from September 2024 through August 2026 put 195 Cottage Lake carrier trucks in front of inspectors, and the middle model year among them was 2017. Whatever year yours is, the model year and engine make are among the first details we ask for.
Those same FMCSA roadside inspection records show roughly 39 percent of the 195 carrying a model year ten or more years back. Older and newer units are both on our list; any inspection or service records you kept will travel with the truck to us.
Contractors, plants and wholesalers near the lake
Construction accounts for 313 of the 3,446 jobs located here in 2023, per the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with manufacturing at 231 and wholesale trade at 198. Dump trucks, flatbeds and stake-beds from contractor work are typical of what sellers bring us here.
King County’s construction firms numbered 238 establishments in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. If a contractor’s truck is parked on a job site rather than a yard, send the site address and tell us when the gate is open.
Transportation and warehousing held 90 jobs in town, a 2.6 percent share in the LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau. Delivery vans and straight trucks from that work qualify too; have the title in hand and the keys with the truck.
Rail yards, intermodal ramps and fuel terminals
Balmer Yard lies 15.8 miles west on the North American Rail Network, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Terminal 30 and Seattle International Gateway intermodal ramps 16.6 and 16.8 miles to the south-west. A day cab that has pulled containers off those ramps can be collected from a Seattle-side lot just as easily as from Cottage Lake.
Two petroleum product terminals, Shell Seattle Terminal and Harbor Island, sit 17.2 and 17.3 miles south-west in Energy Information Administration listings. If your tractor pulled fuel tankers from those sites, tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale or stays behind.
Dairy, cattle and nursery operations in King County
Around Cottage Lake the county farm picture, per USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, is 1,604 King County farms led by dairy milk, cattle and foliage plant growers. Farm trucks, livestock haulers and nursery delivery trucks all qualify for a sale to us.
A truck kept on a farm is collected from the farm itself. Give us directions to where it is parked, and if the title is in a farm’s business name, have the person who can sign for it on hand.
The questions we get asked in Cottage Lake
- My dump truck is parked near High Rock Quarry, not in Cottage Lake. Will you come out to the quarry side for it?High Rock Quarry is about 6.7 miles north-east of Cottage Lake on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from wherever the truck sits. Text us the quarry-road address and the name of whoever controls the yard gate.
- My truck is registered to my business, not to me. Whose signature goes on the title when the company sells it?Thirty-one of the 44 active Cottage Lake carriers in FMCSA’s census are private fleets, so business-titled trucks are common here. Have the title in the company’s name and a person authorised to sign it for the company.
- Most of my runs stay around King County. Is a local-only truck one you buy?Local driving is the pattern in Cottage Lake: FMCSA records show 59 drivers working within 100 miles. A local-only truck sells to us the same way as any other: VIN, odometer reading and photos first.
- I run a roll-off out of Cottage Lake. Is a garbage truck something you take?Garbage and refuse is listed by 3 Cottage Lake carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and roll-offs and rear loaders are trucks we purchase. Include photos of the body and hoist with the cab.
