Base and bluff
Two installations on the town’s doorstep
Fairchild Air Force Base starts right at the eastern line of town, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places a second military installation, White Bluff, 6.7 miles to the north-east. If your truck has run gate deliveries or support loads out of either one, park it somewhere we can reach without a base pass when you are ready to sell, and tell us the street address.
A truck that has spent its working life on installation roads usually has a tidy file of service records behind it. Pull that file together, along with the title and current registration, so the person who collects it can match each paper against the VIN plate.
A gravel wash plant and the Marshall sidings
Wash Plant #1, a sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 8.2 miles east, shares that same distance with the two Marshall rail yards. In the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, one Marshall yard belongs to BNSF and the other to the WIR line.
Dump trucks and end-dump tractors from the wash plant, and flatbeds that meet the trains at Marshall, are all trucks we buy. If yours is parked at the pit or beside a siding, send a few photos showing the body, the hoist or deck and the cab, plus a note on how a tow rig would get in.
Loading at the Hillyard and Spokane racks
Two petroleum product terminals sit east of town on the Energy Information Administration’s list: Hillyard at 14.4 miles and Spokane at 15.4 miles. Tank tractors and fuel trailers that load at those racks fall well within what we purchase.
For a tanker, any terminal inspection sheets and the tank’s own certification papers belong with the title. Keep them in the cab so they travel with the truck when it leaves Fairchild AFB.
Box moves
The Spokane intermodal ramp, under sixteen miles east
Spokane’s rail intermodal ramp lies 15.7 miles east, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, close enough that day cabs from this side of the county run container moves to it. If yours has pulled boxes off that ramp, send us the VIN and the odometer reading before anything else.
Chassis and container trailers can be listed alongside the tractor. Tell us which pieces you own outright and which carry a lien, so the lienholder’s release can be lined up before the collection date is set.
Out of 267 jobs in town in 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES) put 81 in transportation and warehousing, a 30.3 percent share. That makes trucking and storage the one sector the count singles out for Fairchild AFB.
Owner-operators and small outfits from that sector can sell a single tractor or a whole yard of them. Gather each truck’s title, registration and VIN in one list, and we will work through them one at a time.
Grain, cattle, horses
Farm trucks from the surrounding county
Around Fairchild AFB, the 2,386 farms counted in Spokane County by USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lead with wheat, then cattle and equine operations. Grain trucks, cattle haulers and horse-trailer rigs come off those places, often parked in a barnyard or a field shed.
If your farm truck sits on a ranch road outside town, give us directions from the nearest highway and a photo of the ground it stands on. A farm-plated truck still needs its title in your name before it leaves the property.
The auditor’s auto license desk on Broadway
For a Fairchild AFB seller missing a title, the Washington State Department of Licensing works through vehicle and vessel licensing offices, a county auditor’s desk among them. The nearest is SPOKANE COUNTY AUDITOR AUTO LICENSE at 1116 W Broadway Ave, Spokane, 99260, which the Department of Licensing lists 10.7 miles from town.
Start the replacement there, or on the Department of Licensing’s lost-title page, before you contact us, and keep the receipt. A seller holding a duplicate application in hand lets us plan the pickup around the paperwork rather than wait on it.
Washington’s Clean Vehicles Program and your truck
Washington adopted California’s Advanced Clean Trucks regulation and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standards through its Clean Vehicles Program, and the state’s published guidance lists enforcement of both as paused. An updated guidance notice covering those rules is listed as in force.
None of that changes what you need to hand over at Fairchild AFB: the title, the registration and the keys. Any engine emissions label photo or certificate you hold can ride along in the glovebox too.
