Blair Waterway terminals a few miles up the road
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Port of Tacoma’s East Blair One terminal 2.3 miles north-west of Fife and the Blair Terminal 2.5 miles out, both roll-on/roll-off docks. A day cab that shuttles between those gates and a Fife warehouse lot is one we can collect right where it parks; send the street address and a note on whether a gate code or yard contact is needed.
Container work in Fife runs through Pierce County Terminal, an intermodal ramp that the Bureau of Transportation Statistics locates 1.7 miles north-west, with Washington United Terminals 3 miles out in the same direction. If your tractor has pulled boxes off either ramp, photograph the fifth wheel, the frame rails and both sides of the cab, and have the VIN plate readable in at least one shot.
Yards and bulk
Rail yards, a liquid bulk terminal and a gravel pit
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the FIFE yard lies 1.3 miles west of town and the BELT LINE yard 2.2 miles north-west. If your drayage tractor is kept inside a fenced yard lot near either one, tell us who holds the key and which hours the gate is staffed.
Carlile’s Tacoma Trucking Terminal, a liquid bulk site the Bureau of Transportation Statistics puts 3 miles north-west, handles tank work, and Canyon Resources runs a sand and gravel operation 2.2 miles south according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A tanker tractor or a dump truck from either kind of job should come with its registration and any tank or body certification papers you kept.
Dock-to-warehouse haulers, meat reefers and company yards
Of the 162 active Fife-based carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, 98 keep to Washington roads, 64 cross state lines, and 72 haul their own company’s goods as private fleets. A private-fleet truck sold out of a company yard needs a signer with authority over the title, so line that person up before we schedule a pickup.
General freight tops the cargo lines filed with FMCSA’s carrier census here at 111 carriers, while refrigerated food and meat each show 33 and fresh produce 26. If you are selling a reefer tractor, mention the trailer setup and whether a reefer unit goes with the sale, so we know exactly which equipment is changing hands.
Those Fife carriers report 607 drivers working within 100 miles and 311 beyond it, per FMCSA’s carrier census, and the three biggest registered fleets run 128, 112 and 86 power units. Fleet owners selling several units at once can send one list of VINs.
Inspection-lane model years for tractors kept between the ramps and the gravel pit
Across 530 trucks inspected between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records give Fife carriers a median model year of 2020, with 20.6 percent of units ten or more years old. Whatever the model year of yours, the paperwork we ask for is the same: title, current registration and any service log you have.
The median truck among 53 reporting Fife carriers logs 23,795 miles a year, FMCSA’s carrier census shows. A dash photo with the odometer lit and the VIN typed out in your first message lets us start on a Fife truck straight away.
Wholesale, warehousing and building work in town
Fife held 19,518 jobs in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, with wholesale trade at 4,123 of them and transportation and warehousing at 3,143. Box trucks and tractors that serve distribution buildings in town fit those two sectors, and we take them whether they are one unit or a row of them.
Construction accounted for 1,391 Fife jobs and manufacturing for 1,139 in the same LEHD figures, and County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau lists 70 construction establishments alongside 16 warehousing ones. Contractors selling a dump truck or flatbed from one of those outfits can have it collected from the job site rather than a home yard.
Pierce County farms and Washington paperwork
Cut flowers and greens, cattle and hemp lead the 1,347 Pierce County farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A livestock hauler or a farm truck from out past Fife can be picked up on the property; give us directions if the farm road is unpaved or gated.
If a Washington title has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues the replacement, so apply for the duplicate there before you contact us. A truck with a lien still recorded needs the lienholder’s release letter, which we can work through with you.
