Naval gates near Indianola
Two naval installations within ten miles of Indianola
On the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list of military installations, Naval Base Kitsap - Keyport sits 6.5 miles south-west of Indianola, and Naval Base Kitsap Bangor lies 9.7 miles due west. A box truck or flatbed that makes deliveries to either gate should be parked off the installation before collection, at a home or yard address in or around Indianola that we can reach without a base pass.
Keep any gate passes, base decals or delivery logs out of the cab once you decide to sell; those belong to you or to the contract, not to the truck. What we need from an Indianola owner is the title, the current Washington registration and a set of keys for every lock on the vehicle.
The Balmer yard south-east of town
Two entries named BALMER YARD and BALMER appear 9.7 miles south-east of Indianola in the North American Rail Network, the map kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A day cab or drayage tractor that shuttles loads to that yard can be sold from wherever it is parked between runs.
If the tractor still has a chassis or trailer hooked to it, say whether that unit is yours and whether it goes with the sale. Send a photo of each VIN plate, tractor and trailer, so the two titles line up with the equipment on the day we arrive.
Gravel west of Indianola
Sand and gravel pits on the Kitsap side
Plant #2, a sand and gravel operation 12.8 miles south-west of Indianola, is on the Mine Safety and Health Administration register, and New Shine Quarry sits 13.2 miles to the north-west on that same list. Dump trucks, end dumps and transfer rigs loading at either site can stay at the pit for pickup if the operator allows it.
Give us the pit name, the gate hours and the person who can let a driver in, and photograph the bed, the hoist and the cab before you write to us. Those pictures, plus the VIN read off the door jamb, let us discuss a gravel truck from Indianola without a site visit first.
Shell and Seattle tanks
Seattle fuel terminals to the south-east
Two petroleum product terminals, one listed as SEATTLE and the other as the SHELL SEATTLE TERMINAL, are recorded 14.1 miles south-east of Indianola by the Energy Information Administration. Tank trucks and fuel tractors that load there and live on the Kitsap side are vehicles we purchase.
For a tanker, include the tank’s data plate in your photos alongside the cab and chassis, and tell us whether the tank is empty and what product it last carried. Keep any tank test certificates with the title so they travel with the truck when it leaves Indianola.
Builders and tree farms
Contractors and Christmas trees around Indianola
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau tally 6 construction establishments in the Indianola area. A contractor’s dump truck, water truck or stake bed parked at a job site can be collected there, provided someone on the site knows it is leaving that day.
Kitsap County holds 570 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and cut Christmas trees lead its list, ahead of short-term woody crops and cattle. A farm truck used for the tree harvest or for moving cattle still needs a title in the owner’s name, even if it carries farm plates.
Clean Trucks and Low NOx status for Kitsap trucks
Under Washington’s Clean Vehicles Program, which adopted California’s Advanced Clean Trucks regulation, the state’s own publication shows enforcement of that rule as paused for Kitsap owners. The medium- and heavy-duty standard known as the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus carries the same paused status in that document.
One item from the same Washington publication is listed in force: an update to regulatory guidance covering Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks and the Low NOx Omnibus. For an Indianola seller, the handover still comes down to a signed title, the registration card and the keys.
The questions we get asked in Indianola
- My truck is parked close to the Keyport base gate; can your driver meet it in that area?Keyport’s naval base is 6.5 miles south-west of Indianola on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, and we collect from addresses near it. Move the truck outside the gate first, to a home or a yard, and give us that address.
- My Indianola truck’s title has disappeared; which office replaces a Washington title?Indianola titles are Washington titles, and the state’s title agency issues the duplicate. Tell us a replacement is on its way when you send the VIN, and the rest of the sale can be set up while it arrives.
- My dump truck stays at New Shine Quarry between loads; could a driver collect it from the quarry yard?New Shine Quarry lies 13.2 miles north-west of Indianola in the Mine Safety and Health Administration register, and Plant #2 is 12.8 miles south-west; both are places we can collect from. Tell us the gate hours and who on the quarry staff can wave a driver through.
- I grow Christmas trees in Kitsap County; would you take the farm truck I use at harvest?Christmas trees top the list for Kitsap County’s 570 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and the trucks those farms run are trucks we purchase. Have the title in your name and photos of the bed and cab ready.
