Fuel terminals and rail yards across the river
The Energy Information Administration places a Pasco petroleum product terminal 4.7 miles north-east of Kennewick and a second one 6.3 miles east. A tanker tractor that loads at either of those racks can stay parked on the Pasco side when you sell it; give us the street address and the name of whoever controls the lot gate.
Two rail yards appear on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics: Pasco, 6.2 miles north-east, and Hedges, 6.7 miles east. If your day cab shuttles freight to and from those yards, have the title and the current Washington registration in one folder before you call.
About 8.8 miles north-east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists a liquid bulk terminal. Tank trailer work out there tends to come with site paperwork such as load logs and inspection sheets, and sending copies with your photos lets us read the tractor’s history without guessing.
Gravel and dump work
Stone from Hanford Pit, contractors in town
Hanford Pit, a crushed-stone quarry 9.9 miles north-west of town, is on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list of mine sites. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that haul stone from a pit like that are trucks we purchase, and we can collect one at the yard where it sits between loads.
In 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 3,524 of Kennewick’s 36,086 jobs in construction, a 9.8 percent share. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 318 construction establishments, so if your mixer, dump body or flatbed belongs to a small contractor, the person named on the title is the one who signs.
Produce, machinery and general freight out of Kennewick
Of the 624 Kennewick carriers in FMCSA’s census, 316 list general freight, 111 fresh produce, 101 machinery and large objects, and 82 refrigerated food. A reefer unit that moves produce in harvest season should come with its reefer hour reading and any service invoices you kept.
If you haul machinery, as 101 carriers here do on FMCSA’s register, your rig may be a lowboy or step-deck setup. Photograph the trailer deck, the ramps and the tractor’s fifth wheel, and note the trailer’s own VIN beside the tractor’s.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 399 Kennewick carriers working intrastate only and 225 crossing state lines, with 367 operating private fleets that haul their own goods. If your truck was registered under a company you own, bring the business documents that show you can sign for it.
Inspected model years along the Columbia
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA, covering 361 trucks inspected between August 2024 and August 2026, show a median model year of 2017, with 43.2 percent of them ten or more years old. Whatever the year of yours, start with the VIN and the odometer reading.
Across 168 local carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median truck covered 18,848 miles a year. FMCSA also records 1,134 drivers here working within 100 miles and 855 going further, so a local-haul truck is often parked in town, while a long-haul unit may be out on the road when you first contact us.
Dairy, cattle and wheat around Benton County
Benton County holds 1,338 farms according to USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with milk, cattle and wheat as its leading products. Milk tankers, cattle pots and grain trucks off those farms qualify, and we pick them up at the farm itself.
LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau put 724 Kennewick jobs in agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting in 2023. If the farm truck carries farm plates, tell us at the outset and keep the title handy, since the state’s title office handles transfers and lost title replacement.
Ecology’s paused emission rules and your sale
Washington’s Department of Ecology lists enforcement of the Advanced Clean Trucks rule, adopted under its Clean Vehicles Program, as paused. Washington’s Department of Ecology also lists enforcement of the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standards, WAC 173-423-081, as paused.
Ecology’s updated regulatory guidance covering those rules is listed as in force. Selling a truck you already own does not need any action under them; have your title and registration ready and we handle the rest.
The questions we get asked in Kennewick
- My tanker is parked near the Pasco fuel terminals. Should it be moved into Kennewick before pickup?Leave it parked by the terminals. The Energy Information Administration places those terminals 4.7 and 6.3 miles from Kennewick, and we collect the truck where it is parked. Tell us who controls the lot so pickup can be arranged.
- The title for my Hanford Pit dump truck is lost; which office issues a new one?The state’s title office issues replacement titles. Hanford Pit, which the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 9.9 miles north-west of town, is a fine place for us to collect the truck once the title is in hand.
