Six point nine miles to the Everett seaport
Everett, 6.9 miles north of Lake Stickney, appears as a strategic seaport in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. A day cab that shuttles freight off those docks can be sold without leaving its usual spot; send us the street address of the lot and the name of whoever holds the gate key.
Rail sits close behind the docks: Bayside Yard is 8.4 miles north, and a second entry called Bayside is 8.5 miles out, both carried in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your tractor has pulled loads between the yard tracks and the waterfront, a photo of the VIN plate and the title front and back is the first thing to send.
Quarries east and north-east
Crushed rock at High Rock, sand at Getchell and Menzel Lake
Heidelberg Materials High Rock Quarry, a crushed-stone site 13.5 miles east, is on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list of active operations. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that cycle out of that pit usually spend nights near the quarry gate, so tell us whether the truck sits there or at home in Lake Stickney.
Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration names Getchell Pit at 17.4 miles north-east and Menzel Lake Gravel at 19.6 miles north-east, both sand and gravel operations. For a truck that has worked those pits, have the registration and any scale or service paperwork together before we talk, and photograph the box, the hoist and the cab from all four sides.
Who works here, by the LEHD job counts
Of the 2,845 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts placed in Lake Stickney for 2023, wholesale trade held 323, or 11.4 percent. Box trucks and straight trucks running wholesale routes are part of what we take, and the plate, title and keys are all a seller needs to start.
Construction filled 289 of those jobs and manufacturing 268, shares of 10.2 and 9.4 percent on the same LEHD figures. A contractor with a flatbed, a mixer or a crane truck idle in the yard can list each unit with its VIN, and we will ask about the whole group at once.
Transportation and warehousing accounted for 144 local jobs in 2023, a 5.1 percent share according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts. Owner-operators living here who park a sleeper between runs can send photos taken where it sits, whether that is a side street or a rented spot.
Dairy, cattle and corn ground across Snohomish County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counted 1,418 farms in Snohomish County, with milk, cattle and corn as the leading products. Milk tankers, livestock haulers and grain trucks from those operations fit what we buy, and they can stay on the farm until collection.
On a family operation, pull the title out of the house file early and check that the name on it matches the person selling. If the title is in a parent’s or a partnership’s name, say so up front.
South and north
A container ramp south, Marysville north
Terminal 30, listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a rail intermodal ramp, is 20.4 miles south of Lake Stickney. Chassis tractors that drag containers between that ramp and Snohomish County yards are welcome; include the odometer reading and a cab photo with the first message.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also records a military installation at Marysville, 17.5 miles north. Trucks parked on private property near there can be collected on site, provided someone can meet us or leave the keys and title arranged in advance.
Where Ecology’s heavy-truck emission rules stand
Washington’s Department of Ecology, in publication 2514036, lists enforcement of Advanced Clean Trucks, adopted through the state’s Clean Vehicles Program, as paused. Ecology’s same publication shows the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standards, Washington’s medium- and heavy-duty emission rule, as paused for enforcement too.
Ecology’s updated regulatory guidance for those rules and Advanced Clean Cars II is in force, and the agency’s document is the place to read the current wording. None of it changes what a Lake Stickney owner needs for a sale: the title, the registration and the keys.
The questions we get asked in Lake Stickney
- Our end-dump overnights by the High Rock Quarry gate; can it be picked up there instead of in Lake Stickney?High Rock Quarry sits 13.5 miles east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and the truck can stay right there. Give us the location and a contact on site who can let us in.
- Which details matter most for a day cab that pulled boxes off the Everett waterfront? The Everett seaport, 6.9 miles north per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is where many local day cabs work, so send the VIN, the odometer reading and photos of the tractor wherever it is parked.
- Is a milk tanker from a Snohomish County dairy something you would collect?Snohomish County’s 1,418 farms, counted in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, lead with milk and cattle, and milk tankers and livestock trucks from them are on our list. Have the title ready in the seller’s name.
