Sell your semi truck for cash in Lake Tapps the easy and convenient way

Lake Tapps sits on the plateau above Sumner in Pierce County, where gravel pits, Auburn’s rail yards and the Port of Tacoma’s terminals all lie within a short haul of the lakeshore homes.

Selling a truck in Lake Tapps? Tell us about it and we'll take it from there.

Gravel south of the lake, stone to the east

The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Sumner Pit And Plant, a sand and gravel operation, 2.7 miles south-west of Lake Tapps, with Fennel Resources 5.9 miles out on the same bearing. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that hauls from those pits is often parked at the plant gate or on a driveway near the lake when the owner calls. Tell us which of the two it sits closest to and whether a loader blocks the way out.

East of town, Thunder Mountain Quarry is a crushed-stone site 9.2 miles away on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. Aggregate haulers that work between that quarry and the Sumner pits can be collected from either end of the run. Have the Washington title in the owner’s name and a recent photo of the VIN plate ready before we arrange the trip up the hill.

Two Auburn rail yards just over the county line

Auburn and Auburn Yard, both rail yards on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, sit 4.8 and 4.9 miles north-west of Lake Tapps. A tractor that shuttles loads between those yards and local shippers may be parked at a customer’s dock, a shop in Auburn or a driveway by the lake. Give us the street address where it actually stands, not your home address, so the pickup goes to the right place.

Trucks crossing from Pierce County into King County for rail work still carry a Washington registration, and that is the paper we ask to see alongside the title. If the title is missing or the registration has lapsed, say so up front and we will work through it with you before a pickup is booked.

Tacoma tideflats

Port terminals and the Pierce County ramp

Pierce County Terminal, a rail intermodal ramp, lies 9.3 miles west on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, and the Port of Tacoma’s East Blair One roll-on/roll-off terminal is 9.9 miles out in the same direction. Day cabs that drag containers or move vehicles off the tideflats belong to owners all over the plateau, and we collect them from a Lake Tapps driveway or a Tacoma yard alike.

Carlile’s Tacoma Trucking Terminal, a liquid bulk site 10.2 miles west according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, rounds out that cluster. For a tractor that has pulled tankers or containers there, send photos of the fifth wheel, the tires and both sides of the cab, plus any service records you kept, so the description and the pictures line up.

A private fleet’s truck may sit at the owner’s business rather than at a carrier yard, so tell us both addresses if they differ.

Of those carriers, 63 list general freight, 18 haul logs, poles, beams and lumber, and 16 each move machinery or motor vehicles, by FMCSA’s carrier census figures. Log trucks, lowboys and car haulers all fall within what we buy. FMCSA’s registrations also show 7 new carriers starting here in 2025 and 5 in 2024, so a truck bought for a business only a year or two old is just as welcome.

Whatever year yours is, the model year and VIN are the first two things we ask for.

Local drivers outnumber long-haul ones too: the same census lists 244 drivers working within 100 miles and 114 beyond. Write down the odometer reading when you photograph the dash.

The largest fleet registered here, per FMCSA’s carrier census, runs 142 power units with 120 drivers; the next two run 23 and 18. An owner selling several units from a fleet that size can list them together and we will plan one visit for the batch.

Construction, hauling and Pierce County farms

Construction holds 306 of the 1,192 jobs located in Lake Tapps, or 25.7 percent, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023; transportation and warehousing holds 152, or 12.8 percent. Dump trucks, flatbeds and water trucks from building sites are part of what we collect here.

Outside town, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,347 farms in Pierce County, led by cut flowers and cultivated greens, cattle and hemp. A farm straight truck or livestock hauler kept on rural acreage can be collected where it sits; tell us about soft ground or a gate code before we come.
