Transload and fuel on the Renton side
Fuel and liquid bulk west of town
Quality Transload Inc, a liquid bulk terminal, appears in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings 7.6 miles west of Shadow Lake. A tractor that has pulled tankers in and out of a transload site like that is something we buy, and the sale starts with the VIN, the current registration and a few photos of the cab, the frame and the fifth wheel.
At the same distance and bearing, the Energy Information Administration records a petroleum product terminal under the name RENTON WA. If your truck delivered fuel from that terminal and still sits on a yard near it, leave it there; give us the street address, the name of whoever holds the gate key and a phone number for them.
Yards and an intermodal ramp
From Orillia’s yard to the South Seattle containers
Two rail yards show up on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics: Orillia at 7.7 miles west and Renton at 7.9 miles north-west. Day cabs that shuttle loads between those yards and nearby docks are a good fit for us; tell us which yard the truck served and send its service records if you kept them.
Farther out, 10.7 miles north-west, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Seattle, WA - South Seattle rail intermodal ramp. A sleeper or day cab that pulled containers off that ramp can be sold from wherever it is now parked, whether that is a lot in Seattle or your own driveway at Shadow Lake.
Stone east, sand north and south-east
Portable 1, Issaquah and Franklin Ridge haulers
Portable 1, a crushed-stone quarry, lies 8.7 miles east according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and the same agency lists Issaquah Pit & Plant 9.8 miles north. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that have hauled stone from either site belong on our list; photos of the bed, the hoist and the tires help us picture the truck.
Franklin Ridge Sand & Gravel, 10.3 miles to the south-east, is another sand and gravel operation on the Mine Safety and Health Administration register. If a mixer or dump truck from that run is parked at the pit, tell us whether the operator allows a pickup on site, and we plan the collection around their hours.
Builders’ flatbeds and dump trucks in town
Construction accounts for 39.6 percent of the jobs counted at Shadow Lake for 2023 in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES). Contractors here run flatbeds, dump trucks and service bodies, and any of those can be sold to us with the title and the registration in hand.
Those 2023 LEHD figures put all employment located in Shadow Lake at 356 positions. If you are winding down a small contracting outfit and have more than one truck, list each VIN and where each one is parked, so we can arrange every pickup at once.
Milk, cattle and foliage plants
Milk tankers, cattle haulers and nursery box trucks
Around Shadow Lake, the farms of King County number 1,604 in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with milk, cattle and foliage plants listed as the leading products. Milk tankers, livestock haulers and box trucks that move nursery plants all fit what we purchase.
A farm truck often lives in a barn or a field rather than a paved yard. Tell us the access, such as a gravel lane or a gate, and send a photo of where it sits so the collection is planned for the ground it is on.
The Covington licensing counter for a missing title
The Washington State Department of Licensing handles titles through its vehicle and vessel licensing offices, and the nearest one to Shadow Lake is VALLEY VEHICLE LICENSING - Safeway/Rite Aid Complex at 27331 172nd Ave SE Ste 116, Covington, 98042, about 3.7 miles from town. If the title has gone missing, that office can start the replacement, and the department’s website explains the same process online.
Bring the replacement title, or the original if you still have it, along with the registration and your ID when the truck is collected. If a lender is still named on the title, have its release letter in the folder too.
Ecology’s paused enforcement
Washington’s clean truck programme
Washington’s Department of Ecology publication lists Advanced Clean Trucks, as adopted in Washington’s Clean Vehicles Program, and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus under WAC 173-423-081; for both, enforcement is paused. Shadow Lake sellers can still sell a diesel truck to us whatever its engine year.
The same Ecology document says an update to the regulatory guidance for Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus is in force. Add a photo of the truck’s emissions label to the others you send; it shows the engine family.
