Silverdale’s ring of rock pits, south and south-west
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a sand and gravel operation called Plant #2 just 2.8 miles south-west of Silverdale, and Bear Creek, another sand and gravel site, 13.3 miles out in the same direction. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has worked those pits is often still parked near the pit or at a contractor’s yard nearby. Tell us which pit the truck ran from and where it sits now, and send photos of the bed, hoist and cab.
South toward Bremerton, Kitsap Quarry and Plant 1 are crushed-stone quarries that the Mine Safety and Health Administration places 7.9 and 9.4 miles from town. For a rock hauler working between those quarries and Kitsap job sites, if the trailer goes with the truck, say so up front and have the trailer’s own title or registration in the same folder as the tractor’s.
Keyport, Bangor and the Bremerton rail spur
Naval Base Kitsap - Keyport lies 3.5 miles north-east and Naval Base Kitsap Bangor 4.1 miles north-west, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A truck that has made deliveries onto either installation does not need to go back through a gate for us; we collect from your yard, driveway or shop lot off base. Give us the street address and a phone number for whoever holds the keys.
On the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the BREMERTON NAVAL rail yard is 7.9 miles south and BALMER YARD is 14.1 miles east. Box trucks and flatbeds that shuttle freight off those yards can be picked up wherever they are parked between jobs, so tell us the location and whether a tow vehicle can reach it without moving other equipment.
Freight, machinery, logs and refuse hauled from Silverdale
Seventy-five active carriers carry a Silverdale address in FMCSA’s carrier census, and 73 of them are intrastate while only 2 are interstate. Fifty-five run as private fleets, hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire. For a seller here, the papers to gather are usually a Washington title and a Washington registration.
General freight is the leading cargo class, with 28 carriers listing it in FMCSA’s carrier census, followed by machinery and large objects at 14, logs, poles, beams and lumber at 9, and garbage and refuse at 7. Lowboys, log trucks and roll-off or packer bodies all come from that mix. Tell us the body type and its maker along with the chassis VIN; we look at the body as well as the chassis.
At the top end, Silverdale’s three biggest fleets register 32, 20 and 10 power units with FMCSA’s carrier census. If you manage one of those and are clearing several units at once, send one list with each VIN, its yard location and whose name is on each title.
Short local routes in Kitsap County
Drivers based here split 117 working within 100 miles and 63 beyond it, per FMCSA’s carrier census. Across the 14 carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA, the median comes out at 10,000 miles a truck each year. Have the current odometer reading ready alongside the VIN when you contact us.
Six Silverdale carriers first registered in 2025 and four in 2024, by the count in FMCSA’s carrier census. A newer operator selling a first truck should have the title in hand, or, if a lender is still on it, the lienholder’s name and contact details so the release can be arranged as part of the sale.
Kitsap building crews and their dump trucks
Of the 12,393 jobs counted in Silverdale for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 481 were in construction, about 3.9 percent. In the same 2023 LEHD figures, manufacturing held 92 jobs, wholesale trade 83 and transportation and warehousing 61. Dump trucks, water trucks and service bodies on building sites are all trucks we buy.
Silverdale is home to 62 construction establishments in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns, each a possible owner of a crew truck. A contractor closing out a crew truck or a small dump should gather the registration, any service invoices kept in the shop, and clear photos of the cab, frame rails and tires before reaching out.
Farms and timber
Christmas tree farms and cattle in Kitsap County
Kitsap County had 570 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and its leading farm types were cut Christmas trees, cut Christmas trees with short-term woody crops, and cattle. Stake-bed trucks, flatbeds and livestock haulers from those farms are often parked out on the property rather than at a shop.
For a truck kept on a tree farm or cattle ranch, send the gate code and a note on the state of the access road. Send the farm’s address, a photo showing where the truck is parked, and the title, which should be in the name of the person or farm business selling it.
What Silverdale trucks showed at the roadside
FMCSA roadside inspection records for 25 Silverdale trucks checked between October 2024 and August 2026 show a median model year of 2018, with 32 percent of them ten or more years old. We buy trucks across that whole spread of years.
Whatever the model year, the same short list helps: the title, the current registration, the most recent inspection report if you have one, and photos of each side of the truck plus the dash with the odometer showing.
Where Ecology’s clean truck enforcement stands
According to the Washington Department of Ecology’s published guidance, enforcement of the Advanced Clean Trucks rule and of the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standard in WAC 173-423-081 is paused, while the updated regulatory guidance covering those rules is in force.
If you are weighing a sale against those rules, have the engine’s model year and emissions label photographed along with the VIN plate. That lets us see exactly what the truck carries without a second visit.
The questions we get asked in Silverdale
- Can you collect my dump truck at the gravel pit instead of me hauling it into Silverdale?Plant #2, the sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 2.8 miles south-west of town, is close enough that we collect right from the pit or the yard beside it. Tell us who controls the gate there so access is arranged.
- I drove deliveries onto Naval Base Kitsap Bangor. Do you pick up on base?Naval Base Kitsap Bangor, 4.1 miles north-west of Silverdale by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, is a secured installation, so park the truck at an off-base address you control and we collect it there.
- Do you buy a tractor that only ever ran Kitsap and other in-state routes?Silverdale’s carriers are almost all intrastate, 73 of 75 in FMCSA’s carrier census, so a Washington-only truck is the usual case here. A Washington title in your name and the current registration are what we ask for.
- Will you buy a Kitsap log truck with its bunks and stakes still on?Nine Silverdale carriers list logs, poles, beams and lumber in FMCSA’s carrier census, and log trucks are among what we buy. Send photos of the bunks and stakes, and tell us whether the trailer is part of the sale.
