Gravel pits on the Roy side of South Creek
Head west from South Creek and the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a sand and gravel operation at Roy, 5.4 miles out, and the C&V Roy Pit at 7.5 miles. A dump truck or end-dump that loads at either pit is the kind of truck we collect around here, and it can stay parked at the pit or at your shop while we arrange the pickup.
Gravel trucks often change hands with a box, a tarp system or a pup trailer attached. Tell us exactly what comes with the sale, and send photos of the bed, the hoist and the hitch along with the cab and the VIN plate, so the listing you describe matches the truck we see.
If the truck sits inside a pit gate on weekends, give us the name of whoever can let a driver in. Knowing the gate contact before the day keeps the collection at Roy simple for you and for the pit.
Kapowsin Quarry, a crushed-stone quarry nine miles east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register, sends rock out by truck. Tri-axle dumps, transfer trucks and belly-dump tractors that run that haul are all trucks we buy from South Creek owners.
Keep your quarry-site paperwork with the truck: annual inspection sheets, service invoices and any site safety checks. Those records tell us where the truck has worked, and if you have none, simply describe the routes it ran and we will ask about the rest.
A truck parked east of town near Kapowsin does not need to be driven back to South Creek. Send us the address and a note on how a tow or a driver reaches it.
Frederickson rail yards and the run to Tacoma
Six miles north, the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows two rail yards at Frederickson. Further on, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Port of Tacoma 12.2 miles east of South Creek. Day cabs and sleepers that shuttle freight between those yards and the port docks are on our list.
If your tractor has pulled containers or chassis, tell us whether the chassis is yours or belongs to someone else; only what you own goes into the sale. Send the VIN and the odometer reading first; every other question follows from those two.
Two liquid bulk terminals, Truck-Rail Handling Inc at 17.1 miles and Arrow Reload Washington Inc. at 17.2 miles, both to the north, appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. A tanker tractor or tank trailer that served them can be collected from the terminal lot once the lot’s owner knows we are coming.
EZ Auto License & Title in Spanaway
For a missing title, the Washington State Department of Licensing handles replacements through its vehicle and vessel licensing offices, and the nearest one is EZ AUTO LICENSE & TITLE at 22225 Mountain Hwy E, Ste F, Spanaway, 98387, about 3.8 miles from South Creek. Start the replacement there before the truck is collected; the title in your name is what transfers the truck.
Bring your ID and the truck’s VIN to the Spanaway office. If a lender still appears on the title, have the lien release in hand as well, and keep the current registration ready to show us alongside the replacement title.
Across 43 trucks checked between 2024-09-04 and 2026-08-20, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year at 2016, and 51.16% of those trucks were ten or more years old. We buy across that whole range, newer tractors and older dumps alike.
Whatever the model year, the same few items help: the title, the registration, the VIN, a current odometer reading and clear photos of every side of the truck. Have them together before you contact us.
South Creek contractors, flower growers and cattle
The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns shows 55 construction establishments working out of the South Creek area. Their flatbeds, stake-bed trucks, water trucks and small dumps are commercial trucks we purchase, whether the business is selling one unit or clearing several.
In USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, Pierce County holds 1,347 farms, led by cut flowers and cultivated greens, cattle and hemp. Box trucks, livestock haulers and farm straight trucks from those operations can be collected right at the farm, so tell us which barn or field gate the truck sits behind.
Paused enforcement and guidance in force
Washington’s Department of Ecology lists the Advanced Clean Trucks rule, as adopted in the state’s Clean Vehicles Program, and for now its enforcement is paused. Washington’s Department of Ecology also lists the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus under WAC 173-423-081, and its enforcement is paused too.
South Creek owners should know that Ecology’s updated regulatory guidance for Advanced Clean Cars II, Advanced Clean Trucks and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus is in force. If you have questions about how those rules touch your truck’s paperwork, ask us when you send the VIN.
The questions we get asked in South Creek
- Can you collect a dump truck that is still sitting inside a Roy gravel pit?The Roy sand and gravel operation sits 5.4 miles west of South Creek on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from the pit itself. Name the pit, the person holding the gate key and where on the site the truck stands.
- Will a ten-year-old dump or tractor from South Creek still qualify?FMCSA roadside inspection records show 51.16% of the 43 trucks checked here were ten or more years old, and those are trucks we buy. A VIN, an odometer reading and a set of photos from the yard are enough to begin.
- Can you pick up a tractor from a terminal north of town?Truck-Rail Handling Inc and Arrow Reload Washington Inc., both about 17 miles north in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, are places we can collect from once the lot owner knows we are coming.
