Just past the town line
The North Bend quarry and the haul roads beside it
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a crushed-stone quarry at North Bend, 3 miles east of Wilderness Rim. A truck that has hauled rock off that site is often parked close to home or at the yard it works from, so tell us which of the two it is and give us a gate code or a contact if the lot is locked.
Crushed stone moves in dump bodies and end-dump trailers. Before we arrive, have the title in your hand, the registration current, and four or five photos taken in daylight: both sides of the cab, the body or trailer, the dash with the odometer showing, and the VIN plate on the door jamb.
Sand and gravel to the north-west and south-west
Seven and a half miles north-west, Snoqualmie S&G dba CalPortland Company runs a sand and gravel operation that appears in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. If your tri-axle or transfer truck spends its days between that pit and job sites around the valley, we can meet it at the pit, at your shop, or at your driveway, whichever you name.
Further south-west, the same federal mine register records the Portable 1 crushed-stone quarry at 8.9 miles and the Palmer Junction Gravel Pit-Kanaskat Pit at 10.3 miles out. Owners of trucks that rotate between those sites should tell us where the truck is usually parked at night, and give us that address for the pickup.
Westward rail and fuel
Renton’s yards and its fuel terminal
Head west about 20.8 miles and you reach Renton, where the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places both Renton and Renton Yard. Day cabs that shuttle freight off those yards can be picked up wherever they are based; send us the VIN first so we can confirm the title details match.
A little beyond the yards, at 21.3 miles, sits the Renton WA petroleum product terminal that the Energy Information Administration lists for fuel loading. A tanker tractor that has loaded at that rack should come with its registration and any inspection records you have kept, which tell us the truck’s history in a form photos cannot.
Port to the north-west
Trucks tied to the Seattle docks
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the port of Seattle, WA, 4.4 miles north-west of Wilderness Rim. A container chassis puller or drayage tractor from that work is something we buy, and the cab, the fifth wheel and the frame are the three things to photograph for us.
If the tractor is parked down by the terminals instead of up in the hills, give us that address. Our carrier comes to the truck where it is parked, down at the waterfront or up in the hills east of it.
Milk, cattle and foliage plants off the foothill roads
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,604 farms in King County, and it ranks milk first among them, then cattle, then foliage plants. Milk tankers, livestock haulers and the box trucks that carry nursery stock all fit what we purchase from owners around Wilderness Rim.
A farm truck that sits on a property off the main road is no obstacle. Tell us how the driveway is laid out and whether a carrier can turn around near the truck, and send a picture of the title so the owner’s name can be checked against yours.
A duplicate title from the Issaquah office on Gilman
Titles in this state are issued by the Washington State Department of Licensing, which handles a replacement through its vehicle and vessel licensing offices. The Washington State Department of Licensing lists one of those offices as Alpine Management Services, Inc, at 1175 NW Gilman Blvd, Suite B-3, Issaquah, 98027, a 15.1-mile drive from town.
Bring your identification and the truck’s VIN to that Issaquah counter and request a duplicate before we schedule the pickup. If a lender is still on the title, have the lien release with you as well, so the transfer goes through in one step.
Ecology’s paused engine standards and a Wilderness Rim tractor
Washington’s Department of Ecology has adopted the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation through its Clean Vehicles Program, and Ecology’s guidance says enforcement is paused. Ecology’s same guidance lists the state’s medium- and heavy-duty engine standards, the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus, as paused too.
Owners at Wilderness Rim selling a diesel tractor or dump truck can sell it as it is. Tell us the engine’s model year from the emissions label under the hood, and include a photo of that label with the others.
The questions we get asked in Wilderness Rim
- Will you collect a truck that works the North Bend quarry? The North Bend crushed-stone quarry, 3 miles east by the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing, is close enough that we go to the truck there or at your yard. Name the pit or yard and who can open its gate for our carrier.
