Day cabs between Chrysler yard and Wilsmere
Six miles south of North Star, the North American Rail Network records a yard under the name CHRYSLER, at 6.1 miles from town. A day cab that has shuttled freight in and out of that yard may still be parked near it, so give us the street address where it stands rather than your home address, and we will plan the collection around that spot.
The Wilsmere yard lies 7 miles east, per the same Federal Railroad Administration and Bureau of Transportation Statistics rail map. If your tractor has worked the run between Wilsmere and Chrysler, have the title in hand, the current registration card and a few clear photos of the cab, the frame and the fifth wheel before you call; those three things answer most of what we ask first.
Tankers from Transflo CSXT to the WILMINGTON fuel terminal
East of town by 6.6 miles, Transflo CSXT appears in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings as a liquid bulk terminal. If you are selling a tanker or the tractor that pulled one from there, tell us what product the tank carried and send any wash or inspection tickets you kept, so the trailer’s history travels with it.
Further along that same eastern line, the Energy Information Administration places a petroleum product terminal named WILMINGTON 11 miles out. Fuel tractors based near that terminal can stay where they are parked; send us the gate contact for the lot, and the pickup is arranged with whoever holds the keys.
The Port of Wilmington and the Wilmington Plant
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists Wilmington, DE as a port 11.1 miles east of North Star. A sleeper or day cab that has pulled containers or breakbulk off those docks is one we can collect at the port lot, at a yard nearby or at your driveway, wherever it sits now.
At 11 miles east, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records the Wilmington Plant, a mineral processing site. Dump trucks and flatbeds that have hauled material in and out of that plant often carry site passes or weigh tickets in the cab; leave those with the truck, along with the VIN and the odometer reading, and we start from there.
Collecting near New Castle Airport and the River Road site
New Castle Airport, 8.6 miles to the southeast, is named as a military installation in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records, and the NG River Road Training Site is 10.7 miles out in that same direction. If your truck is parked on or near either property, ask the site office what pass a driver needs to get in, and pass that on when you contact us.
For a truck kept at a contractor’s yard outside those gates, write down the yard’s address and the name of someone on site who can open the gate on collection day.
Farm trucks and local work
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 335 farms in New Castle County, with corn, soybeans and equine at the top of its list. Grain trucks and horse-hauling rigs from those operations are welcome; they are often parked in a barn or field lane, so tell us if the ground is soft or the lane is narrow before we send anyone out.
In North Star itself, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts record 867 jobs for 2023. Owner-operators and small fleets living here may keep a truck at home or at a yard nearer the Wilmington waterfront; either works, as long as the title is in the seller’s name or you can show the paperwork that puts it there.
The questions we get asked in North Star
- My tanker is still parked beside the Transflo CSXT terminal east of North Star; does it have to move before you collect?Transflo CSXT is about 6.6 miles east of North Star on Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, and a tanker parked near it can be collected on that lot. Give us the lot owner’s contact so access is agreed before the driver arrives.
- My grain hauler has spent its seasons moving corn and soybeans between county farms; is that a truck you buy?Corn and soybeans lead the crops on the 335 New Castle County farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and the grain trucks that serve them are on our list. Send the title, the registration and photos of the body and bed.
- The truck sits near the Port of Wilmington, not in North Star. Will you go to the waterfront for it?The port is 11.1 miles east of town according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and we collect from the place the truck is parked. Tell us the yard address and who holds its keys.
