Small local fleets
Twenty-one trucking outfits around Ocean View
A truck from an outfit like that is usually parked at the owner’s shop or yard, so tell us the street address and we will collect it from there.
The three biggest operations on the census run 6, 4 and 4 power units, each with four drivers, which puts every local fleet in the handful-of-trucks range. If you are selling one tractor out of a small set, send the VIN, the registration card and a few clear photos of the cab and frame for that unit alone.
Of those 21 carriers, the federal carrier census counts 15 cleared for interstate work and 6 that stay inside Delaware. Either way, have the Delaware title in the name on the registration, since that is the paper the sale turns on.
Freight, machinery and lumber from local carriers
General freight is listed by 12 Ocean View carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, with machinery and large objects close behind at 8. A box truck or tractor from the first group and a lowboy rig from the second are both trucks we buy, so say which kind of hauling yours did when you get in touch.
Three local carriers move household goods and another three carry logs, poles, beams and lumber, according to the same federal census. Moving vans and log or flatbed trucks often come with extra gear on board; list what is mounted on the truck and what stays with you, so the photos show the truck as it will be collected.
If your dump truck or equipment hauler sits on a site rather than a yard, give us the site address and the name of whoever can open the gate.
Most drivers stay close to Ocean View
Ocean View carriers report 39 drivers working within a hundred-mile radius and 11 who go further, on FMCSA’s carrier census. If your truck worked those local runs, tell us the street where it is usually parked so the pickup is planned around that spot.
The ten carriers that report annual distance put the median at 13,374 miles a truck, again per the federal carrier census. Write the odometer reading down when you send the VIN; it is one of the first things we ask and having it ready saves a round of messages.
Gravel operations north-west toward Wolman
M L Joseph Sand & Gravel Company Inc sits 15.7 miles north-west of town, and the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a second sand and gravel operation, PLANT #2, at 24.4 miles in the same direction. Dump trucks and tri-axles that run aggregate out of pits like those are part of what we purchase; if yours is parked at a pit, tell us which one and who manages access.
Twenty miles west, the Wolman industrial-mineral mine appears in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. A truck kept on a mine property can be collected there, but we need a contact on site and any gate or safety-check rules before we arrive, so pass those along with your photos.
Grain trucks among Ocean View’s corn and soybean farms
Ocean View’s surrounding county held 1,053 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, where Sussex County’s leading crops were corn, soybeans and wheat. Grain trucks and hopper tractors from that work are often stored in a barn or field between harvests; give us the farm address and say whether a loaded trailer is still attached.
Whether your truck served a farm, a builder or a delivery route, the registration and any service records you kept travel with the sale, so gather them before we schedule collection.
Titles here are issued by the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles, and its Dover Division of Motor Vehicles facility at 303 Transportation Circle, Dover, 19903 sits about 48 miles from town. If the title is missing, request a duplicate from that office before we arrange collection, and keep the receipt with your registration.
When a lender still appears on a Delaware title, ask for the lien release first and bring it with the duplicate request to the Dover facility. Send us a photo of both pages once they arrive and the rest of the sale can move ahead from Ocean View.
