Detroit hauls what it builds. After general freight, the biggest cargo its carriers declare is motor vehicles, with driveaway and towaway next, and one job in ten inside the city line is in manufacturing. Four in five of the city's carriers are registered for Michigan-only work, so the Detroit truck is a short-haul truck.

Detroit has six Secretary of State branches, at 2835 Bagley Street, 580 East Warren Avenue, 17500 Livernois Avenue, 14634 Mack Avenue, 3046 West Grand Boulevard and 20220 West Seven Mile Road, and every one offers instant title service, so a lost title is replaced across the counter.
