Gravel pits and a quarry within nine miles
Tome Pit, a sand and gravel operation listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, lies 3.9 miles south-east of Los Chaves, and the Orona pit sits 6 miles to the north-east. Dump trucks and end dumps that load at either pit can be collected right at the yard where they are parked, so give us that address and the gate hours when you get in touch.
Mountain States Crusher GCP 3164 is a crushed-stone quarry 8.7 miles north-west of town, according to Mine Safety and Health Administration records. If your truck has hauled out of that crusher, tell us the body type, the axle count and whether a tag axle or pusher is fitted, and send a photo of the VIN plate with the cab shots.
Further up the valley, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places Los Padillas Pit, an industrial-mineral mine, 15.7 miles north of town. Mixer, tipper or belly-dump, have the title in the registered owner’s name and the current registration together before we arrange collection.
Hauling between Belen’s yard and the ramp up north
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the BELEN rail yard is 6.1 miles south of Los Chaves. Tractors that shuttle freight to and from that yard are trucks we buy, and a day cab parked near the tracks is as easy for us to reach as one in a driveway.
Albuquerque’s rail intermodal ramp, 22.5 miles north in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, is where container chassis work starts for many valley tractors. If yours pulls boxes off that ramp, note whether the fifth wheel is sliding or fixed and photograph the frame rails and tires along with the sleeper or day cab.
Two petroleum terminals north of town
The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals near Albuquerque, one 18.6 miles north-east of Los Chaves and the other 18.7 miles north. Tank trucks and tractors pulling fuel trailers between those racks and the valley are part of what we purchase.
For a fuel hauler, keep the cargo tank’s test and inspection paperwork with the title, since those sheets travel with the tank and tell us its history. Say whether you are selling the tractor alone or the tractor and trailer together, and list the trailer’s VIN separately if it has its own title.
Contractors and wholesalers based in Los Chaves
Construction accounts for 120 of the 734 jobs counted in Los Chaves for 2023, a 16.3 percent share, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Contractors’ dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from that work are welcome here, whether you are selling one unit or a whole yard.
Wholesale trade adds 52 jobs, 7.1 percent of the local total, according to that same LEHD release. Box trucks and straight trucks running wholesale deliveries often carry a lift gate or reefer unit, so mention the make of either and include a photo of its plate.
Equine barns, potted plants and tomato fields
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 978 farms in Valencia County, with equine, potted flowering plants and tomatoes leading its list. Stock trucks, horse haulers and grain or produce trucks from those operations are trucks we take on.
Check whose name is on a farm truck’s title before you call, whether that is a family member, the farm itself or the driver, and if the registered owner has passed away or the title is lost, the state’s title agency issues a replacement or transfers it.
Clean-truck rules on the Valencia County books
The New Mexico Register, published by the State Records Center and Archives, lists New Mexico’s Advanced Clean Trucks rule and its Heavy-Duty Omnibus engine standard as in force. If you have the engine’s emissions label or its model-year paperwork, photograph the label on the valve cover or block so the engine family is on record.
Neither rule changes what we need from you to buy a truck in Valencia County. Bring the title, the registration and any service records you kept, and we handle the rest of the transfer with you.
The questions we get asked in Los Chaves
- Can a dump truck be picked up at a Tome or Orona pit yard?Tome Pit is 3.9 miles south-east and Orona 6 miles north-east, per the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and we collect from pit yards like those. Send the pit address along with the name of whoever holds the gate key.
- Does a tractor parked by the Belen rail yard have to be driven somewhere else first? The BELEN yard sits 6.1 miles south of town on the North American Rail Network, close enough that we come to it. Leave the tractor where it is and tell us where it is parked.
- Do you buy horse trailers and stock trucks from Valencia County farms?Equine farming leads the county’s list in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, across 978 farms, and stock and horse-hauling trucks are among those we buy. Have the title in the seller’s name before we schedule pickup.
- What should a Los Chaves owner send in the first message? For a truck from Los Chaves, start with the VIN, the odometer reading, the name on the title and photos of the cab, frame and tires. Every other question follows from those.
