Aggregate haulers working the Vado quarries
Down toward Vado, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a crushed-stone operation called Vado Quarry, 11.7 miles south-east of the Mesilla plaza. Dump trucks and tractors pulling end-dumps between that pit and job sites around Las Cruces are the kind of equipment we collect, and a truck that spends its week there can usually be picked up from the yard it returns to at night.
Farther down the same road, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records two sand and gravel sites, Vado Quarry and Vado Pit, both 15.4 miles south-east. If your truck runs between these and a batch plant, send us the VIN, a few clear photos of the body and the chassis, and tell us which site it works from so the collection is planned around the gate hours.
North-east rock
Toro Aggregates and the haul north of Las Cruces
On the opposite side of town, Toro Aggregates appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as a crushed-stone quarry 17.9 miles north-east of Mesilla. A rock truck based out that way does not need to be driven south to us; give us the address where it is parked and we arrange the pickup there.
Owners with trucks at both the Vado and Toro ends of the valley can sell them together. List each unit with its VIN and where it sits, and keep the registration for every one in the cab or ready to hand over when we arrive.
Dairy, gin and ranch haulers around the plaza
Around Mesilla, Doña Ana County counts 1,990 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with milk, cotton and cattle listed as its leading products. Bulk milk tractors, cotton module haulers and cattle pots that serve those operations are trucks we buy, whether they are parked at a dairy, a gin or a ranch yard.
In Mesilla itself, agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting account for 52 jobs, a 5.5 percent share of the town’s 946 in 2023, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. If your farm truck only moves seasonally, tell us where it is stored between harvests and we will meet it there.
West of the river, by NG Las Cruces
Seven and a half miles west of the plaza (7.4 by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics) is NG Las Cruces, a military installation. Trucks that have serviced sites on that side of the river can be collected from wherever they are kept now, as long as we can reach them with our own equipment.
Before we come, check that the name on the title matches the seller and that the registration is current or available. Send photos of the cab, the data plate and the odometer so we can confirm the truck before anyone heads out.
Las Cruces MVD
Mesilla owners deal with the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division for titles, and its NM MVD Field Office - Las Cruces- Wyatt, at 308 Wyatt Dr, Las Cruces, 88001, is 3 miles from town according to the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division. A seller who has misplaced the certificate can request a duplicate at that MVD field office before we schedule the pickup.
Bring a photo ID and the truck’s VIN to the Wyatt Dr counter, and if a lender was ever on the title, carry the lien release with you. Once the clean title is in hand, the rest of the sale is a signature and a handover at the truck.
New Mexico’s heavy-duty emission standards
New Mexico has adopted Advanced Clean Trucks, its medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle requirement, and that rule is in force. Alongside it, the Heavy-Duty Omnibus sets exhaust standards for heavy-duty engines and is also in force.
For a Mesilla owner selling an existing diesel, these rules mainly govern new engines and manufacturer sales. Keep the engine’s emission label legible and include a photo of it; it shows us the engine family and model year at a glance.
