Austin is a building town and a plant town, spread over 326 square miles of hills and creeks. Construction employs thirty-nine thousand people inside the city, manufacturing more than that, and after general freight the cargoes its carriers declare most are household goods, machinery, steel coil, motor vehicles and lumber.
