South-east edge
Asphalt and fuel terminals off the south-east side
The Energy Information Administration places the Elk Grove Asphalt Terminal 2.2 miles south-east of the city and a second petroleum product terminal, listed simply as Elk Grove, 2.7 miles out in the same direction. If your tanker or asphalt tractor is kept at either gate, tell us whose ground it stands on and who can let a driver in, and we will arrange the pickup there rather than asking you to move it.
A tractor that loads at a product terminal usually carries a file of its own: annual tank inspections, hazmat endorsements on the driver side, and the registration in the carrier’s name. Gather the title and registration first, then add whatever tank or trailer test sheets you hold, so the paperwork matches the unit we come to collect.
Florin, Perkins and the gravel plants to the north
Mine Safety and Health Administration records put the Florin Plant, a mineral processing site, 5.5 miles north of Elk Grove, with the Perkins Plant sand and gravel operation 9 miles north and the TRP-Sacramento Plant 9.4 miles to the north-east. Dump trucks, transfer rigs and belly-dump tractors that haul from those pits are exactly the kind of equipment we pick up.
If the truck is parked inside a pit or plant yard, send us the site name from that MSHA list and the name of the person who signs visitors in. Add photos of the bed, the hoist, the axles and the VIN plate, and tell us which body sits on which chassis.
Polk Yard, South Sacramento Yard and the river port
On the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Polk Yard lies 7.9 miles north of town and the South Sacramento Yard 10.5 miles to the north-west. A day cab that shuttles boxes or loads between those yards can be collected from a drop lot nearby; give us the street address and any gate code.
Ten point six miles west, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Sacramento-Yolo Port in its port tables. A tractor stationed by the river docks does not need to come back to Elk Grove for the sale. Name the terminal or lot, tell us whether the keys are on site, and we plan the collection around that spot.
Produce, reefer and general freight from south county
Of the 1,371 active Elk Grove carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, 844 name general freight as a cargo they carry. Fresh produce shows up on 247 of those FMCSA registrations, while refrigerated food and meat appear on 233 each; if yours is a reefer tractor, include the trailer unit’s details when you write.
Of those Elk Grove registrations, the same federal census marks 842 as intrastate and 526 as interstate, with 163 running private fleets. An intrastate-only truck carries California registration paperwork and no IFTA decals to settle; an interstate unit should come with its IRP cab card. Have whichever applies to your truck ready with the title.
Drivers for these carriers split by range, according to FMCSA: 1,199 work within 100 miles and 2,349 drive beyond it. New entries keep arriving too, with the census recording 79 new carriers in 2024 and 91 in 2025. If this is the first truck you have sold, start with the title and registration and we will walk you through what else we need.
Inspection years and annual miles in this part of Sacramento County
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA, covering 1,513 trucks inspected between August 2024 and August 2026, give a median model year of 2020 for carriers based here, and 16.85 percent of those trucks were ten or more model years old. Whatever year your tractor is, the model year on the title and the VIN are the two details we ask for first.
For 449 Elk Grove carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 58,646 miles per truck per year. Note the current odometer reading when you contact us and photograph the dash, so the figure we work from is the one on the truck.
Fleet sizes in town range widely: FMCSA lists one carrier with 200 power units and 250 drivers, another with 94 units and 88 drivers, and a third with 87 units and 55 drivers. Whether you are selling a single tractor or several from a yard like those, send a list of VINs and we will set up one collection for the group.
Construction, warehouses and farms around the city
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 record 45,031 jobs in Elk Grove, including 2,009 in construction, 1,498 in manufacturing, 1,299 in transportation and warehousing, and 446 in wholesale trade. County Business Patterns, also from the Census Bureau, lists 242 construction establishments in the city and 3 warehousing ones. Contractors’ dump trucks, flatbeds and box trucks from that work are welcome; have the title in the business name and the registration together.
Across Sacramento County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,118 farms, with milk, corn and cattle at the top of the list, and LEHD shows 169 agriculture jobs inside Elk Grove itself. A feed truck, cattle hauler or milk tanker kept out on a farm can be collected where it sits; tell us the road, the gate and who will be there.
The questions we get asked in Elk Grove
- My tanker is parked at the asphalt terminal on the south-east edge of Elk Grove; is that where you collect it?Leave it where it stands. The Energy Information Administration lists the Elk Grove Asphalt Terminal 2.2 miles south-east of town, and we collect from the terminal lot. Tell us who controls the gate so a pickup can be arranged with them.
- The California title for my Elk Grove tractor has gone missing; where do I get another?California’s title agency issues duplicate titles for trucks registered in the state. Apply for the duplicate in the name shown on the registration, and send us the registration and VIN in the meantime so we can start on the rest.
- I run a reefer for a produce hauler here. Do you take refrigerated units? We take produce reefers along with the tractor. FMCSA’s carrier census shows 247 Elk Grove carriers listing fresh produce and 233 listing refrigerated food. Send photos of the tractor and the reefer unit, with the unit’s hour meter, along with the title.
