On the river
Port of Vancouver docks and Terminal 4
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Port of Vancouver USA 4.5 miles north-east of the city centre, and lists Terminal 4, a roll-on/roll-off berth, 5.2 miles to the west. A tractor that shuttles between those two waterfront sites and the Clark County yards is the kind we collect where it stands. Tell us the lot, who holds the gate key, and whether port credentials are needed to reach it.
If the truck is inside a terminal fence on the Columbia waterfront, get the title and current Washington registration together before you contact us. Add a clear photo of the VIN plate on the door jamb and shots of the cab and frame.
Rail yards and petroleum terminals west of downtown
Two yards on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, sit close to town: the Vancouver yard 4.4 miles west and Vancouver Term #2 at 5.2 miles. Day cabs that dray boxes between those tracks and nearby warehouses tend to stay on short loops, so the truck is usually somewhere on the west side when the owner decides to sell.
The Energy Information Administration records two petroleum product terminals west of the city, at 4.8 and 5.1 miles. Owners of tractors that pulled fuel tankers out of those racks should keep any terminal loading cards, tank inspection sheets and service records with the title, since those papers describe the work the rig did.
Clark County carriers
Carriers registered around Clark County
Clark County holds 1,784 active carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and 1,229 of them are authorised for interstate work while 551 stay inside Washington. Private fleets, hauling their own goods rather than for hire, account for 626 of the total in that FMCSA census. Whichever group yours belongs to, have your USDOT number handy so the registration history matches the title.
General freight is listed by 1,250 local carriers in the federal motor carrier census, with refrigerated food and meat each named by 329 and fresh produce by 297. Reefer units and their tractors are welcome; note the unit’s make and hours alongside the truck’s VIN.
New registrations keep arriving: FMCSA’s census shows 128 carriers started here in 2025 after 105 in 2024. A first-year operator selling a tractor bought on a loan should ask the lender for a payoff letter and lien release paperwork before we schedule collection.
Distance and fleet
Local routes, long hauls and model years
Drivers registered locally split into 3,024 who work within 100 miles and 5,581 who go farther, according to the FMCSA registrations. Across 810 carriers reporting mileage to FMCSA, the median comes to 44,809 miles per truck each year. If yours is out on a long run, tell us where it will be parked when it comes home.
Roadside inspection records from FMCSA covered 1,750 trucks between August 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2019 and 31 percent at ten or more years old. Whatever the model year of yours, the odometer reading and the VIN are the first two things we ask for.
Gravel pits, building sites and farms
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Lewisville Pit 9 miles north and Fazio Bros Sand Co 9.2 miles north-west, both sand and gravel operations. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors that load at those pits are often left on the site between jobs, so say whether the pit gate is open on weekdays.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau counts 771 construction establishments in the county, and the LEHD job counts put construction at 6,323 jobs and manufacturing at 8,622 out of 106,898 in 2023. Contractors selling a mixer, flatbed or dump truck from a job yard should send the yard address and a contact on site.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 1,927 farms in Clark County, with nursery stock, milk and cattle at the top. A farm truck parked in a barn or field out past the city limits is fine where it is; a farm plate still needs the title in the seller’s name.
Rules and roads
Washington clean truck rules and county bridges
Washington adopted California’s Advanced Clean Trucks and Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus standards through its Clean Vehicles Program, and the state’s published guidance lists enforcement of both as paused, while an update to the regulatory guidance is in force. Sellers do not need to resolve either rule before selling a diesel tractor to us.
The National Bridge Inventory from the Federal Highway Administration counts 39 bridges in the area, 2 of them load-posted and none under 14 feet of clearance. Tell us the street the truck sits on so the collection route avoids any posted span.
The questions we get asked in Vancouver
- My tractor is parked near the Port of Vancouver USA; does it need hauling into town first? The tractor can wait on its Columbia waterfront lot. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the port 4.5 miles north-east of the city centre, and we collect from there. Give us the lot, the gate contact and any port access rules.
- Do Washington’s paused Advanced Clean Trucks rules stop me from selling an older diesel? Not as things stand. Washington’s Clean Vehicles Program guidance lists enforcement of Advanced Clean Trucks and the Low NOx Omnibus as paused, and neither stands in the way of selling your truck to us.
- My dump truck sits at a sand and gravel pit north of town; will you fetch it from the pit itself?A pit north of Vancouver is a fine pickup spot. The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Lewisville Pit 9 miles north of Vancouver; tell us which pit and when the gate is open, and we arrange the pickup on site.
