General freight, coil and dry bulk carriers
General freight is the cargo on 1,131 of the 1,590 active Grand Prairie carriers in FMCSA’s census. If yours is a van or reefer tractor from that work, start with the VIN and the title holder’s name; both go on the first call.
Paper products appear on 190 Grand Prairie carrier registrations, sheet, coil and roll metal on 164, and dry bulk commodities on 155, according to the same FMCSA census. A flatbed tractor that pulled coil, or a tractor matched to a pneumatic tanker, is a truck we buy here, so tell us which trailer it ran with and whether that trailer is part of the sale.
Of those carriers, 478 are authorised for interstate work, 1,103 operate intrastate only, and 270 are private fleets hauling their own goods, per FMCSA. A private-fleet truck is often titled to the parent business rather than a person, so have the name on the title and someone who can sign for that business ready before we arrange collection.
Carriers that started recently
New registrations in the FMCSA census numbered 166 in Grand Prairie during 2025, up from 110 in 2024. If you opened your authority in one of those years and are now closing it or selling a unit, the truck can still be sold while the authority is active; bring the registration card and the title together.
Some owners here bought their tractor on a loan when they started out. If a lender still sits on the title, give us the lienholder’s name and your account details, and we settle the payoff with them as part of the title transfer.
Fleet size varies widely: FMCSA lists one Grand Prairie fleet at 412 power units and 255 drivers, another at 185 power units with 325 drivers, and a third with 141 units and 245 drivers. Selling several trucks from a fleet of any size is one conversation, not several; send us a list of VINs and where each unit is parked.
What roadside inspections record
Between August 2024 and August 2026, FMCSA roadside inspection records logged 2,108 trucks run by Grand Prairie carriers, and their median model year is 2019. Whatever year your truck is, the model year printed on the title is what we go by, so check it matches the VIN plate.
FMCSA’s roadside inspection records also put 28.6% of those trucks at ten or more model years old. Older or newer, we ask for the same things: photos of the cab, the frame, the fifth wheel and the tires, and any service records you kept.
A median of 40,000 miles a year per truck is what 391 Grand Prairie carriers report to FMCSA. Read the odometer before you call and send a photo of it with the dash lit; that single picture answers several of our questions.
Rail yards and terminals near town
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the GARRETT rail yard 4.3 miles north-west of Grand Prairie and TREX STATION 9 miles north. A drayage tractor parked near either yard can be collected from there; give us the gate contact and the lot address.
Carry Transit, a liquid bulk terminal 4.9 miles north-west, and Kinder Morgan’s liquid bulk terminal 9.4 miles out the same way both appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. Tank-pulling tractors from those sites are part of what we purchase; tell us the terminals the truck served and keep any site safety or inspection paperwork with the title.
Two petroleum product terminals at Euless, 9.6 and 9.7 miles north-west, are recorded by the Energy Information Administration. If a fuel-hauling tractor is parked out there and you live elsewhere, leave it where it is and send us the location.
Jobs, sites and building work
Manufacturing accounts for 15,133 of Grand Prairie’s 84,782 jobs in the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts for 2023, about 17.8%. If a box truck or tractor that served a plant is titled to the business, ask your office who holds the title before we talk.
Wholesale trade adds 9,290 jobs and transportation and warehousing 6,921 under those 2023 LEHD job counts, while County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 52 warehousing establishments. A yard tractor or straight truck from a warehouse can be photographed where it sits at the dock; we collect from the site.
Construction holds 8,742 jobs in the LEHD figures, and the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns lists 288 construction establishments. Ash Grove Cement Company, a cement plant the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 11.1 miles south, is close by; mixers, dump trucks and bulk cement haulers are all trucks we take, with the title and registration in hand.
Routes and county
Bridges, the base and Dallas County farms
The National Bridge Inventory from the Federal Highway Administration counts 278 bridges in Grand Prairie, with none load-posted and none under 14 feet of clearance. When you tell us where the truck is, mention the nearest road it can be reached from, and a tall unit can be collected without a detour.
Grand Prairie Reserve Complex, a military installation the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 5.3 miles north-east, sits beside the city. Dallas County holds 647 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, corn and equine leading; a livestock hauler or grain truck from those farms counts too, and it can stay on the property for collection.
The questions we get asked in Grand Prairie
- Our day cab sits on a lot by GARRETT yard, north-west of town; does it have to come into Grand Prairie first?Leave the day cab beside the GARRETT lot. The North American Rail Network places GARRETT 4.3 miles north-west of Grand Prairie, and we collect from there; give us the lot address and whoever controls the gate.
- The truck is registered to our private fleet rather than to me personally; who signs?Yes, if someone authorised by the business signs the title. FMCSA counts 270 private fleets in Grand Prairie, and where the title is in the company name, that person’s signature is what the transfer needs.
- The Grand Prairie truck’s title has gone missing; is that a reason to hold off calling?Call anyway. Tell us on the first call that the title is missing and send the registration and VIN; we will point you to the state’s title office for a replacement before collection is scheduled.
